Meet Jessica Nieto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Nieto.

Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Jessica and I’m the owner and designer of YeeHaTx. I’m from Mexico City, currently living in Lampasas, Texas, where I finally made my dream brand a reality. Long story short. When I was a child, my mother used to have shoe stores. She made all kinds of shoes for women and she was always trying to look for the best materials for the next models. My brother and I were always with her while she was choosing the leather, sketching, and even at the store. At eight years old, I was watching her, even helping her sell, without any sales skills. She was always empowered and hardworking. I think I got that from her, since I was a child I was always trying to sell something, even the toys that I received for Christmas. When I got older, I started to like fashion, shoes especially, clothes and hats. I used to draw for hours and imagine all kinds of fabrics, colors and combinations. I never studied fashion. Instead, I went to a “normal” school, graduated in Pedagogy, then got an MBA and got stuck in the corporate environment. 2020 was the year that changed my life, I got married and when 2021 started, I moved to the US and started a new life with my husband. I’ve never experienced being at home and in a small town. I started dreaming again about my own creations and fashion. Living in Texas was a huge inspiration. After months of research, creating my logo, social media, buying tools and materials, I started my new business customizing hats, YeeHaTx. I’ve been designing hats and selling in markets, stores and online. For the first time in my life, I’ve been using my hands to create something that I’m in love with and making other dreams (hat dreams) come true. That makes me feel proud. I’m also learning about making the hat body, how to become a hat maker and make a hat from the scratch, so I can give to my customers more options and types of YeeHaTx.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been easy. I’ve been learning more than just hats. I’m always finding something new to me like shipping, fabrics, social media, fashion, and trends. Being entrepreneur is definitely a challenge and a learning process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hat designer. I customize hats with bands, charms, hand-burning letters, figures and landscapes. I can make the hat of your dreams. I feel proud when my customers send me pictures wearing their hats or leave me a good comment. It’s satisfying and keeps me motivated.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being happy doing what you love. Enjoying the process of learning and making your customers feel proud, empowered or beautiful/ handsome wearing your products.
