Meet Rona Aquino of Yoga with Rona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rona Aquino.

Hi Rona, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I discovered yoga at a very challenging phase of my life. It was a blessing in disguise because my struggles gave me a sort of awakening; it brought me to something that means so much to me today. My yoga practice and self-love journey.

As I spent more time getting to know myself again, I started tapping into my inner sense of self-trust and intuition through meditation, breathing and movement. This gave me the push to keep learning, growing and moving forward, to start fresh and bounce back from anything that was holding me back. I’ve built my personal brand since then and have been enjoying every minute of it!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all! In 2016, I went through a series of major life changes – being a new mom, going through a divorce, major relocation and unemployment. It all happened at the same time and it was very tough. It became the catalyst for change that I needed.

It also took me many years to really use my voice and share my passion with others. I realized that it’s okay to put myself out there, because it’s not about me but it’s about sharing what I know and being open enough to play in the field instead of hiding where it’s comfortable.

Maybe there’s a single mom out there who feels just as lost as I was and she needs to reclaim her power, her sense of self and conquer her own fears. I had to overcome fears of shyness, rejection, public speaking, and engaging in social media to reach an audience who may find value in what I can offer.

As you know, we’re big fans of Yoga with Rona. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a yoga teacher, blogger and influencer. I offer live and on-demand yoga classes and workshops online. I specialize in hatha yoga and creating content for busy parents and professionals who want to practice meaningfully but only have time for something quick and effective.

My brand is about helping others cultivate a more mindful lifestyle. Only in taking the time for self-care and reflection can we truly be our highest selves. I’m most proud of receiving messages from women about how I’ve inspired or helped them in some way. That keeps me going!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks is a must because stepping out of our comfort zone is the only way to grow. I think we hold ourselves back so much because of the fear of failure. Failure is just part of the process, you can’t get anywhere without it. There will be setbacks and hard times but that’s all part of the journey and it makes it all worthwhile. We have to fail hard and often. I can’t even say how many times I’ve been rejected. Over time we have to laugh at that too because it’s just part of the human experience.
