Conversations with Angel Coe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Coe.

Hi Angel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Several years ago, I purchased a gorgeous silver belly hat for which I could not find a worthy hatband. So I decided to make my own. From that moment on, I was hooked. I made hatbands as gifts for friends and soon had requests for hatbands to purchase. Within two years, I expanded to hat designs. Hat designing is my happy place. Seeing pictures that happy customers send to me and knowing the hats I donate for charity auctions are helping worthy organizations is very special to me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I love making hats. The more creative I get to be, the happier I am! However, I cringe at the thought of marketing any of my designs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
After 30-plus years in the legal field, I am finally taking time for creative endeavors. Although I can’t really say, I sought this out. I more or less stumbled into it. It started off as a pastime to decompress and has morphed into a business.

I’m most proud of the fact that my hats make people happy. They truly are made with love and good juju (it’s not just a tagline) and I think that’s why people fall in love with them. They can feel that.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve always heard, “do what you love and the money will follow” but that sounded like a crazy pipe dream to me. Yet here I am, designing hats and getting paid for them. It’s a little wild to me when I stop and think about how I “accidentally” fell into this. And it makes me think how many people haven’t even found their happy place yet because they don’t know what they don’t know.
