Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A little story about myself. I am an immigrant from Viet Nam.
We escaped VN when I was eight, in a small boat… after seven days at sea, we landed on an island in Malaysia.
We were stuck there for seven years. In those seven years, I never dreamed that I would have a chance to come to America.
Inside the refugee camp, we had one public tv; sometimes I saw a McDonalds in commercial adds and wondered what that was?
As a teenager, I tried to make sense of my situation. I was one of those refugees, apprehensive about an uncertain future yet feeling extremely grateful that I was here at all, In this country.
A country built on service, kindness, and generosity, opportunity–the freedom to hope and dream.
These values are what inspired me to start LT Commercial Group, a commercial real estate firm with a female minority-led team. We work to establish a space to provide the minority community guidance, opportunities, advocacy, support, and success.
Also, Nobody ever said that being a leader is easy to run a company. It’s very simple to bark out orders and dismiss someone if they are not performing, but it takes work to coach, mentor, inspires, and motivate your team to perform at their optimum best. That’s the fundamental difference between a leader and a manager; You must be willing to pay the price of leadership if you want the perks of leadership, according to John Maxwell.
As a leader, create a culture where your people are inspired to create great ideas, where the dreamers are encouraged to dream big dreams. Live your purpose by serving others; continually inspire your team to become the very best version of themselves and ultimately, it will lift the organization to a higher level of performance.
Since establishing LT Commercial Group in 2017, Our company also has helped dozens of minority small businesses clients find retail locations and start businesses in the local community. Through her leadership, LT Commercial Group works with clients every step of the way to help them overcome language barriers, confusion over contracts and leases, assist with contract negotiations, and communicate with city officials so that business owners can open and operate with little delay.
Currently as a developer with LT Development Partners, I always has a soft spot for small business owners, being a small business myself. I understand the hard work that goes into a business and why small business owners want to save money and invest wisely in their company’s future. “This is why our company’s mission is to help the small business owners and investors. The goal with commercial condo ownership is that instead of paying rent and not gaining anything back, once you outgrow the space and decide to move on you can sell it or lease it and still have a residual income.”
As a leader in entrepreneurship in the Asian community, I encourages my clients to be involved in their business so that they are able to see the impact it makes on their lives. I love helping people grow their businesses and be able to realize their dreams.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, not at all… At the beginning, it was really hard to get your name out to find clients and connect with other commercial brokers, they really don’t like to work with inexperienced new agents… I have to get very creative… I took an ad in a Vietnamese Magazine and let people know that some of these locations are available for lease and you can have your business here… Call me so I can represent you… (Even Though these are not my listing) And one day I got a call from one of restaurant owner asking me to representing her to lease a 2nd generation CiCi’s Pizza just went out of business. and I successfully closed the deal with one of commercial real estate and later on went to work for the firm.
