Meet Monica Ferrari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Ferrari.

Hi Monica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey starts walking into an aerial studio 11 years ago to try a new workout that included aerial silks, aerial hoop and pole, who knew it would become my lifestyle. Eventually, I fell in love with the need to learn more on the lyra, something about that steel ring called to me. I couldn’t get enough of circus after I was given the opportunity to perform in Dragons Halloween Ball 2015 by my then aerial instructor Ms. Kim and quickly became a five years veteran aerialist with DHB. I connected with so many amazingly talented people and fell in love with performing! Outside of that, I took every workshop I could sign up for invested a lot of money on my training, equipment and wordrobe. I have had the pleasure to be able to perform with/for/during big name artists such as Gucci Mane, NERVO, Dead Mau5, Slander, Above and Beyond, DJ Snake and many more Lights All Night artist lineup. Something about being able to dress up in character and letting my creativity flow through my acts just felt…magical. This could be job? I never would’ve thought. *wink*wink*

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m a wife, mother and mama to six furbabies. Our household was struggling a bit between my transition in jobs to becoming a full-time aerialist six years ago. I took up teaching aerial arts at several different circus schools around DFW/Metroplex area for extra money and that quickly became another obsession in itself. Taking every instructor course possible to gain as much aerial knowledge as possible. Watching my students grow into these amazing aerialist, my heart couldn’t be more full, many are now aerialist for hire themselves!

Teaching & performing full time does take a toll on your body so finding time to rest but also being able to enjoy your time off is important. Having to learn to balance my home life, performer nightlife and my day job teaching aerials. I wouldn’t change a moment. It’s been one hell of ride. The terms “starving artist” is in full effect some weeks to sometimes months due to pandemic and slow season. But it’s all worth the love I have for this art and industry.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Texas-based Insured Aerialist and Fire Performer. I specialize in Fire Lyra Acts, Aerial Acts and Aerial Hoop Choreography. I love to perform on my Aerial Moon, especially with my duo partners. I also own a Aerial Heart, Aerial Sphere, Lyra Square, Aerial Hammock and Lyra.

I also Fire Dance, Fire Eat, Fire Hula Hoop and more!

I’m most proud of my ability to choreograph an aerial piece with fluid flows and dynamic movements. I like to bring that to life in every aerial performance and recently over the last past year have added fire to my aerial acts. I’ll definitely be bringing the heat in my next coming acts! Follow me on Instagram to see what’s next!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Always such a welcoming place and creates a new fun memory every single time I’m in town!
