Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Johnston.
Hi Kristin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in a small suburb in the Los Angeles area of California. I grew up near the beach in a beautiful equestrian neighborhood. I did some acting as a child and had an exciting childhood. I married my husband and we had our first daughter when I was just 18 years old. I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom after our oldest daughter was born. My husband worked hard and started a company to make it possible for me to stay home and be a mom. Our family grew as we added two more daughters to our family! I loved being home, but I knew I had more to offer and wanted our three girls to see me as an example- you can do anything you put your mind to.
I always loved skincare, beauty and lifting other women up. So it was a natural decision when I decided I wanted to open a spa. All I had was an idea and my family’s support!
I went back to school and started learning, heading down a new and exciting road. The more I learned, the more licensing and certifications I received, the more I knew I made the right decision.
When I was finally ready to open with all of my newfound knowledge, the worry set in! I really was doing this!
I opened in our first location in Lakeway. It was a small spa, one treatment room and a small waiting area. It was adorable and it was mine! It took some time to get clients in my door! Slowly, from word of mouth, I was getting busier and busier. By this time, our oldest daughter was through her schooling and wanted to join the team!
Together we worked hard and perfected our techniques and our individual specialties.
We eventually grew out of our space. We found the perfect place to land! Inside Jacquelyn’s Spa, with the most amazing group of other women entrepreneurs who quickly became friends.
Being in business years now and having grown into a business that we are unbelievably proud of, I have learned that it is possible to absolutely love what you do for a living. I get to wake up every day, do something that I love to do, do it alongside my beautiful daughter and have these amazing clients that I feel are friends.
We learn and grow everyday, and feel so grateful for the opportunity to serve this amazing community and hopefully make everyone feel their absolute best about themselves, so they can go out and concur their dreams!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were definitely some bumps in the road! Learning to run a business was probably the biggest one! I love injecting, I love Fibroblasting, I love chatting and getting to know clients, but running the everyday ins and outs of a business was not something I loved to do, or even knew how to! That was a big hurdle for me! Luckily my husband helped me get on the right track and helped me figure it out. It still may not be my favorite part of Contoured Beauty, but I have to say it makes me very proud that I can do it!

I like to think of Contoured Beauty as a beauty boutique. We offer personalized treatments and that we tailor to each individual client, so when a client comes to see us, they get exactly what they need. We offer Botox/Dysport injections, dermal fillers for all areas of the face, body contouring, PRF injections and last but definitely not least, Plasma Fibroblasting. We are one of only a few spas in the Austin area who truly specialize in Plasma Fibroblasting and we use Plaxel, which is a true Plasma Pen, that has absolutely astonishing results. We pride ourselves on staying up to date on all the new exciting innovations that are constantly coming in the aesthetics world and constantly continuing our educations.

Austin is such a vibrant city with a melting pot of people and ideas. The kindness of Texans always seems to shine through in the happy faces of my lovely clients everyday. I love the pride that the people of Austin have for their city, it just makes me smile! I just hope one day, I will finally find time to visit all of the little gems that Austin has to offer, that I have yet to see
