Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherri Maley.
Hi Cherri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I fell in love with the world of weddings back in 2006 while planning my wedding. Fast forward eight years and we now live in Wimberley, TX. I met with my entrepreneur grandmother to discuss how we could combine our current vacation rental business to add weddings so we started searching for property. We fell in love with this property because of the expansive lawn along Cypress Creek with beautiful trees. We are now a wedding venue and boutique inn with 11 suites, two cottages, and an open-air ballroom that hosts weekend guests and wedding experiences for guests from all over.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If any entrepreneur tells you it was all smooth sailing they would be lying. For us, the biggest struggles were:
1. Longer remodel/construction timeline than planned
2. COVID
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a family-owned and operated business, literally, our whole family works here in some capacity. I personally wear many hats as the property manager, certified wedding coordinator, venue manager, and more. We are proud of our land and architecture, but most of all the experience that we offer our guests whether they are here for a weekend getaway or a wedding. We happen to be in business in a highly saturated market and are able to offer our clients a unique experience with our lodging, amenities, and location.
How do you define success?
I believe there are three types of success.
1. Doing something that you love.
2. Opening a business that makes its clients happy and is able to stay open.
3. Having a business or career that makes more money than most dream of.
For me I would say success is a combination of doing something I love, having happy clients, and of course, making some money along the way is nice.
