Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Earles.
Hi Morgan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Cole and I (Morgan) both grew up in the great state of Texas. We got married in October of 2011 and now have three beautiful boys (ages 3, 7 and 9). After living in El Paso, New Mexico and Colorado, we chose to plant our roots in the beautiful hill country near Lake Travis.
As a boy, Cole spent his days plowing cotton fields, working cattle and building barns and fences at his family farm and ranch in West Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering Technology from the University of North Texas. Cole worked for two different general contractors, where he built high-end commercial projects across the United States for nine years prior to starting County Line Custom Homes. He is an entrepreneur at heart and started his first fencing business in college and had always planned/ dreamed of having his own successful company after graduating. He is the founder of County Line Custom Homes and the lead project manager who handles all aspects of construction and serves as the primary point of contact for our clients.
I am also a graduate from the University of North Texas, where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. I have always loved decorating but more recently found my niche for interior design while building our first home together in 2018. I am now the lead designer and works with our clients to create a home that fits within their desired function, design and budget. I have always supported Cole’s dream to start his own company and encouraged him to do so. I am the CoFounder and Lead Designer of County Line Custom Homes.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not always been wine and roses. We started our company in 2018 and Covid hit shortly thereafter in 2020 which resulted in supply chain issues and significant price increases across the industry. We faced substantial material price increases that we had not seen before and had to figure out how to navigate those conversations with our clients – the prices of lumber doubled alone. Supply chain issues have resulted in substantially longer lead times for building materials. What used to be predictable is no longer – what used to be lead times of a few weeks turned into lead times of a few months. These were tough challenges to face and hard conversations that needed to be had with existing clients. Thankfully, our clients have been incredibly understanding and we have learned to roll with the punches and come up with good, alternative plans when needed.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about County Line Custom Homes?
We are a boutique-style builder meaning we only work on a handful of homes each year. This allows us to be a part of the entire build and design process and provide a higher level of customer service to our clients. We are committed to not only building a quality home for our clients but to making the process an enjoyable one!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
We have to pinch ourselves sometimes when we think of how far we have come in such a short amount of time and that we get to do what we love for a living. God has blessed our family tremendously. Our first priority is to be there for our children because time flies and we know that in a blink of an eye they will be out of the house and we don’t want to miss it or regret not being more present. Although we may work more hours now, our time is flexible and we are able to be present when we want to be – we can both go to our kid’s games and Cole makes time to coach their teams. We make time for vacations and for each other. We may have to work some weekends and some evenings after we put our kids to bed but we get to choose our schedule and try not to take on more than we can handle. We are still learning how to navigate this work/life balance but are thankful we get to figure it out together.
