Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Berger.
Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always grew up with a camera in my hand, playing the director and making my brother and sister and our friends act in “movies.” When I got to high school there was a journalism class that I excelled in. Because I found it fascinating and love doing it all from the shooting to the reporting to the editing. I decided to major in film in college and I did an internship with offer communications, filming international commercials and infomercials. I then became the line producer and saw what it was like to be respected as a 21-year-old female by middle aged men. I then moved to Los Angeles and worked at Warner Brothers which was definitely an eye opener! I learned that I didn’t want to work for a big production company because it’s long hours and little pay at least starting out for a long time so I eventually moved to Texas thinking I’d get out of the film industry and move somewhere cheaper. It wasn’t until I was getting married myself, I didn’t realize you could make a living off of photographing or filming someone’s best day of their life! That’s when I was a turning point for me and knew that’s what I wanted to do for a living if that’s what I wanted to do as a hobby. I took all my knowledge in filming and photography and started my own business doing what I love for a living.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There definitely are hard times. COVID-19, of course, never had I even thought that that would be something I would need to worry about. We all struggled together and the event community stayed strong together. Things seem to be getting back to somewhat normal in Texas which is a great feeling.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lauren Maria Photography & Films. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in both photography and films. Whether it be weddings, births, newborns, families, senior photos, birthdays, all the way until end of life, legacy films. Which honestly legacy films are the most proud and passionate work that I do. What sets my business apart is my business is purely based off of passion for capturing big and small moments in anyone’s life. Every moment is important, Every moment can’t be redone exactly the same, every moment is precious. I love that I maintain relationships with all my clients from the past, which I have now over the eight years of being in business I have done well over 600 shoots!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
As simple as it sounds as far as photography goes I like to use the Lightroom app on my phone and get photos back to my clients maybe my favorite three just hours after they say their vows.
