Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazanee Moore.
Hi Jazanee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Jazanee (jay-juh-nay) Moore, and I grew up in the Bay Area. I grew up in a single-mother home with 3 siblings and my grandmother. Growing up, I was always a happy, energetic, and outgoing girl. However, I also faced many challenges that caused me to become very distant from my loved ones. I still remember kids teasing me in school because my looks never exceeded their expectations. Either my skin was too dark, or my butt was too big for 10 years old. Children were so cruel back then. They would have you questioning your character, presence, and beauty. Ninth Grade was hard dealing with being sexually assaulted and not knowing who to talk to or confide in. I started to become different; I was smoking weed, missing curfew, and losing sight of who I always aspired to be. Running away from home started to become a regular thing, and my mom finally grew tired of worrying about my day and night.
So, one day, I was arrested, and my mom refused to pick me up. I think she was teaching me a long-due lesson. Being in Juvenile Hall gave me time to sit and think about all the pain and hurt I constantly ran from daily. It hurt at the time to see my mom cry during our visits. After which, I started to apply myself in school once I was released and transferred to a group home in Fresno, Ca. While living in Fresno, I remembered how much I loved fashion and beauty. My relationship with my mom had started to repair, and soon we were mended back together. School started to become a fashion show for me all over again. It was nice going to a school where no one knew me. I eventually left Fresno and moved back to San Francisco—where I received my High School Diploma from Independence High School. I still had a lot of growing to do from there, but somehow it all worked out.
My passion for the Fashion world has always been dedicated to children who have ever felt Unimportant, Neglected, Or Unloved. The Children who feel like their voices don’t matter. I want to step up for the girl out there who has a fire burning in her heart but feels no one is listening. It feels amazing to take a chance and go for your dreams. I am so Proud of myself for finally ignoring the negative thoughts and starting my online boutique. F.L.K. is bringing Feminism, Sexy and Classy to the world in a new light. Fashionably Late Kloset wants women to express themselves with no judgment from others. Our Motto is Become The Woman You Want To Be. Fashion Is A Part Of Life. So Let’s Live It Right.
We are here to show women their beauty is unique. No one is perfect. We all have imperfections and flaws; This past year, I took my fashion and modeling career very seriously. I never thought in a million years I would be saying I’m a published model in multiple magazines this year. It has been an honor to work with so many amazing photographers and models who have helped me to become a better model every day. I recently joined a modeling agency, Bonita Agency, owned by Sarah Jo Campos. Being a part of this agency makes you feel like family. These opportunities have shown me anything is possible. I thank God every day for all the blessings and accomplishments.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Like any new business starting from the ground up, there will always be some bumps in the road. I didn’t know how hard it would be to run a company alone initially. I was probably 2 weeks in with my business, and things were going well; Customers were hitting me on Instagram every day asking when the shipments would be in. That made me feel good. I felt like I had supporters who wanted to see me win in life. I sold several pieces but also lost a few customers due to delayed shipments. Too much time passed, and I even had to refund one of my customers. Moving forward, I started to see that you have to have multiple vendors on hand because anything could go wrong at any given moment. The last thing you want to do in this business is losing a loyal customer. Being a business owner takes a lot of patience and time. I always want to play the front line; I feel like you must let your customers know you care too. Promotion would have to be the hardest thing these days. You have one shot at selling these products and making your customers love them. Nothing is stopping them from shopping with another boutique.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I want young girls and boys to feel appreciated. We should let our future youth know they matter, and we got you! Too many young people live on the streets and do drugs because somebody they love forgot about them. I want to Build up our youth and make them feel whole again. Encourage Our Youth to become more than what they see in the mirror. My business is dedicated to hard work, motivation, and building a foundation for my family. But it’s not easy starting a business from the ground up to create purpose and meaning in others. Representation is everything to me. Fashion does not discriminate, especially if you wear it with confidence. So, let’s come together and create something beautiful. Give back to Our youth Because if not, What’s the Use?
We offer services such as:
– Fashion Consulting for specific events or photoshoots.
– Creative Director input.
– We can help you figure out what your image should look like.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
I advise you to love the business you are introducing to the world. Be open-minded to participating in different events to help spread the word. I want new business owners to understand that the first year will not be easy. The first year is about setting your foundation and understanding the message you want your business to give. Don’t be afraid to sit down and ask yourself certain questions. What does your business stand for? Who is the face of your brand? Are you open to expanding the brand?
Make sure you have someone around with experience in marketing and promotion. There is nothing wrong with returning to school to pick up a few classes to educate yourself on business and marketing. Remember, this is your Baby. You must nurture and care for this business like a child. You are helping this business to become strong and successful. Lastly, it helps to have a strong team, Positive supporters, and a Plan B just in case Plan A fails.
