Today we’d like to introduce you to HAZMVT.
Hi HAZMVT, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is HAZMVT. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. I started as a DJ and Artist, playing dive bars and open mics until I landed a role as an official DJ for a Hiphop group called DOER GANG. After the Team formed, we did 2 tours with a Columbus, Ohio artist named Doobie. We hit 30+ cities in the United States area including the house of blues in Houston and Dallas, as well as closing out the tour at the Columbus venue, Express Live with over 2500 people. When both tours finished up, I ended up moving to Cleveland Ohio for a year to get closer to an official studio and study the art of being a recording engineer. While releasing my own music the whole year, an album and multiple singles, I developed my skill as a recording engineer, artist, DJ, and videographer. My time in Cleveland came to a close when I decided to move to Austin Texas to get closer to my nieces and nephews, as well as take my craft to a new city and new group of people. Almost immediately after moving to Austin, I landed a role in a recording studio (Next Level Studios) as an engineer, as well as the main DJ for multiple clubs on 6th street. In a short time, I have created a network of artists, engineers, managers, videographers, and promoters. I run a Podcast that interviews up and coming artists and influencers, called The Bomb Shelter Podcast. I also own and operate a video production company named 45 BANDZ. My current plan for the rest of 2022 and the whole of 2023…Is to release my first Punk Rock album called “F*CK YOUR OPINION”, and promote the brand by live performances, and work with new artists weekly through the Podcast, Videography Company, and Recording Studio. I have released 3 singles already to the album, all with music videos and promotion campaigns. I have a show with Taylor Gang’s own Young Deji in November.
Thankful for the trials and experiences I have gained up until now and have been blessed to have met so many amazing people and artists. 2023 will be a dream come true.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My path has never been an easy road. After battling the disapproval of many individuals I loved dearly… I had to make the decision to keep pursuing my dream knowing that I would lose friends, family, and partners along the way. In 2017 my father took his own life and it flipped my world upside down to the point I did not want to exist anymore. A week after my father died, while I was at his funeral showing… My apartment caught on fire and burned down and the building fell on my car. Insurance companies for both the apartment complex, the fire department, and my personal insurance would not cover any damages resulting in me losing my father, apartment, and car all within a week. I ended up living in a friend’s car until I acquired my own RV which I lived in through the winter with no electricity or heat for about 6 months. My laptop has been stolen twice in my career resulting in losing all my content. Members of the Hiphop group fell apart due to felony cases, unplanned pregnancies, and disrespected actions. I feel blessed to have learned from these experiences and have avoided debilitating career mistakes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Recording Artist, DJ, Recording/Mixing Engineer, Videographer, Podcast Host, CEO, and Influencer. I am known mostly for my personal music, my podcasts, and for always being consistent with creative content. I am most proud of myself for coming to a point where I realized I could do 100% of the content creating and promoting myself and followed through with it a year ago. NOW, I can create and release the music I like with the vision I have without being delayed or tainted by people with less of a work ethic or care for my music than I have. What sets me apart from the majority of artists is my ability to express pain, joy, and all other feelings in a relatable and exciting manner and leave the listener feeling fulfilled and wanting more. I also have noticed people have felt inspired to start their own brand/music journey from watching my path and determination.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking in general is necessary in today’s society, as well as extremely exhausting. I have found that being genuine and empathetic, as well as truly knowing who you are as a person will get you the best result. You WILL encounter scammers, fakes, and people with vampire energy… But not letting it destroy you is critical! Learn that all people are NOT out to get you. There ARE people that will respect you, treat you and your art with the same energy you do, and those are the people to surround yourself with. As far as finding a mentor…someone with exceptional experience and understanding of where you are at in your journey, is the best option. You can always study the greatest artists that have paved the way before us. Learn from their mistakes, and avoid negative experiences as you navigate the industry and individuals.
