Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Ogunro.
Hi Imani, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since I was younger, I was always keen on creativity. Whether it was colors, fashion, cinematography, or even makeup. However, those attributes are not praised when you’re a kid. Academics or athletics is always the primary focus that you are celebrated for and that was just something I was never into. As I got older, my creativity grew and I felt like I needed a space bigger than myself to show it off, and that’s where Youtube came into play. I can display my creativity HOWEVER I want and there are no rules or limitations stopping me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say being consistent and setting aside time to complete my content. Since I’ve been focused on graduating from college, it cuts into my time to create content. Adding onto the fact that I prefer not to have just one niche, even though most people recommend it for growth. However, my creative brain does not allow me to limit myself which can get me in trouble sometimes because my content becomes all over the place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Social media influencer, personal hair and beauty consultant, videographer, and YouTuber. I also was just crowned MISS USOA AUSTIN 2023. My plan for my career path is to mix my interest with the department of sales (retail) and/or communications. I’m also currently attending school for graphic design, so that will be a big part of my career path as well.
I have showcased my creative journey through my Youtube channel where I have received over 30,000 views of me traveling the world and making content that others can interact with.
I have a BA in public relations from the University Of Houston with a minor in marketing and an AA in communications from Austin Community College.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family, we’re pretty big with different interests and attitudes. They’ve helped me along the way in SO many avenues. I would not be here writing this article without them.
