Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Miller.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Chupacabra strength and conditioning is owned by 3 veterans. Two of the owners have roots and history in Texas, specifically Fort Hood and Temple, which is why we opened in this amazing community. We all shared the same dream of owning a gym separately but joined forces to create the perfect combination of our dreams. We found our building, 201 S Main street, in May of 2022. After months of demo work and remodeling the prior night club turned antique store and now a premier fitness gym, we opened our doors for free community workouts in late August. Starting in October 2022, we officially began offering memberships. Our mission is to create a family atmosphere where, despite what level of fitness you walk through our doors with, we all walk out the same, sweaty, tired, better, and stronger.
Would it have been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was bumpy and frustrating. Our hardest hurdle was, in fact, just finding a building that would suit our needs. While we all have a background in fitness, some of us have a background in business. We needed to gain experience in creating a building and company from scratch. We learned about small things such as permits for everything, taking a historic building and bringing it up to code with new toilets, plumbing, electrical, and putting in showers. We used the saying “measure twice, cut once,” but even that didn’t solve all the problems. We have blood, sweat, and tears on these walls. Ultimately, we all agree that we would not change it for the world; it was such a valuable learning and bonding experience.
We’ve been impressed with chupacabra strength and conditioning, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our fitness regimen is based on the best components of a broad range of fitness programs. Chupasweat will utilize a wide range of equipment, from adjustable benches, dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, barbell slam balls, battle ropes, and assault cardio equipment. Every workout is different, so your body will never plateau, utilizing endurance, strength, and power components. Within the small group personal training atmosphere, you will be able to get the personal training attention while having the energy and friendship of a small group setting. ChupaSweat has a specific class number to ensure that each person can receive the time and attention from the trainer to teach and understand the “what” and the “why” behind the form and exercise. Our facility is geared for open-gym as well. Our building offers hot showers, a child watch room, and access to all the equipment you could want.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Grit, diverse background, and training “courage and resolve; strength of character.” We all generally want and have the desire to help people, not just physically but mentally as well. “You can’t get stronger physically without getting stronger mentally.”
