Hi Jason, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Suppose you grew up around the kitchen and experienced the joy of bringing people together with some good-tasting food. In that case, you’ll understand why Grill Your Ass Off means so much to our community and us! Can you believe that I was the only soldier from Texas while serving in Fort Myer, Virginia, as a U.S. Army Infantryman? You already know what that means; everyone relied on me to make good quality BBQ. With no good seasoning options in stores around the base, I had to reach out to my family back in Texas to send me and my guy’s spices back to Fort Myer. This experience taught me a lot about how my brothers and sisters and I liked our food, and I learned a lot about what went into creating a superb cooked meal. After serving, I returned to Texas, and as many veterans do, I utilized my GI Bill to begin my collegiate career. While attending college, I blended my favorite flavor profiles and ultimately created a product that I knew would appeal to anyone for anything they are cooking. After many months of flavor tasting and branding, Grill Your Ass Off, was created. Since the company’s creation in 2016, we have been on a wild roller coaster of unprecedented growth! Over here at Grill Your Ass Off, we have no plans of slowing down, and we look forward to serving your business by providing continued camaraderie through a good ASS BBQ.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish more people knew how hard it is on a day to day to be an entrepreneur. It is not a cakewalk; building something out of nothing from the ground up and then scaling it during every growth phase is tough. I do not have a formal degree. I didn’t go to business school. I am self-taught, and with everything I know, I searched for, asked, found mentors, stayed up late at night, and put in the hours every day. I wish more people understood the dedication, passion, and determination it takes to be a business owner.
We’ve been impressed with Grill Your Ass Off, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
