Daily Inspiration: Meet Tishy Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tishy Bryant.

Hi Tishy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
My transition from the corporate world into professional photography was “a leap of faith.” I began focusing on it full-time after my husband’s passing; if not for him, I would not be doing this today. I left Austin for 6 years to be closer to family and grow the business. However, my daughter and I made our way back to Austin last year, and we love being back “home.” I began photographing football and baseball games, allowing me to enter the senior, teen, and sports markets (while still serving families throughout the year). After this part of my business was established, I went through a time of figuring out my “why.” I realized how much I loved giving back and making a difference. I remembered my high school years, how challenging it was to make friends, how I wanted to be included in a good cause, and how I loved giving back to others (especially animals). I started a role model team comprised of freshmen through Seniors. We aim to be good community stewards, inspire others, and give back through charity projects. As a bonus, we do some cool photo sessions throughout the year. I think the Halloween session with smoke bombs is a favorite! I’m very fortunate that I get to do what I love every day. It makes my heart happy. And I think it shows through my work. I am just so very appreciative.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were some struggles. It can be a saturated market, so you need to find your niche. I tried newborns and weddings, but it wasn’t a passion of mine. So trial and error for sure. I also began realizing it was more than taking photos. How do I make my clients feel? Do I empower them? From the time they contact me until they get their photos, I try to make it an experience they will remember. And that has helped me connect with so many people. I genuinely love meeting people and hearing their stories too.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Photographer specializing in Senior, Teen, Sports, and child photography. I’m most proud/most known for my work ethic, my compassion for others, and my role model team. What sets me apart? My style, ability to tell a story with my camera, how I make people feel during our session, and my extremely positive attitude!

What were you like growing up?
Oh, this is an interesting one. I was outgoing until I was in a wreck in the 8th grade. The injuries impacted my cheering and dance/gymnastics. I stopped all of it and went into a bit of depression. I started visiting Austin around 1994 and fell in love with the city. It gave me a new perspective, and I met many amazing people. It helped me realize there is so much “out there” to explore and experience. I came back out of my shell as a junior in high school. So I went from being quiet to get the “biggest talker” award my senior year. I’m not sure if that is a good accolade, but my ability to talk to basically anyone has helped me in my profession.
