Life & Work with Lindsay & Shawn Kana of Bastrop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay & Shawn Kana.

Hi Lindsay & Shawn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wine shouldn’t be “scary”; it is for everyone and is a different experience for each person. My husband and I always visited wineries while traveling and dreamed of having our own. While we loved each winery, we often found some intimidating and wanted to make wine fun! It was a big dream, but we wanted to offer quality wine and a fun, unique experience to the locals in our community. It has been a long road of researching and learning, but we’ve met some fantastic people and are so close to opening our doors to the town of Bastrop.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
We started as “online only,” selling wine, coffee, and merchandise, and we had a great response. However, we had to have all events at our home, and not having a brick & mortar prohibited us from offering our wine and unique experiences to more locals. So our search for a downtown location began…another hard thing to find in the rapidly growing town of Bastrop! Fortunately, we met an amazing couple who were retiring from their winery business in downtown Bastrop and had the perfect space for us.

Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your work next?
We make wine fun! My husband makes wine, and I create unique experiences for people in Bastrop and surrounding communities to enjoy the wine. We love to connect people in our community and give others opportunities to bond over wine. We take pride in bringing something different to our hometown, and partnering with other local businesses.

What are your plans for the future?
We hope to one day expand into other communities!
