Community Highlights: Meet Michelle Nemirovsky of Oak & Keys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Nemirovsky.

Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a Bay Area native with a background in marketing and design, I’ve always known that I wanted to start my own business. My first venture was a mobile app called Mumsy, designed to bring mothers and daughters closer together. Although the app didn’t take off as I had hoped, it taught me valuable lessons about entrepreneurship and ignited my passion for building something of my own.

Fast forward to today, I’ve recently moved to Austin, and I’m currently remodeling our new home. As a lover of design, travel, and aesthetics, I’ve always been drawn to interior design and the world of home professionals. After working for a large brokerage and helping agents with their marketing strategies, I realized that many women in the industry needed more modern resources to grow their businesses effectively. That’s when I decided to start Oak & Keys, an online blog and marketing agency that empowers and supports female home professionals.

Oak & Keys has become a hub for women looking to turn their passion for the home industry into a successful business. Our blog offers many resources, from business advice to real estate investing tips, and features inspirational stories of successful women in the industry. We’ve also launched The Weekly Real, our newsletter that’s equal parts informative and entertaining. We share the latest real estate news and trends, our favorite home goods, and more in a cheeky tone that’ll make you feel right at home.

As a founder of Oak & Keys, I’m proud to be able to help women in the home industry achieve their goals with a modern approach and a community that’s all about supporting and uplifting one another.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Starting and growing Oak & Keys has had its fair share of challenges. When I started my business, there was a huge opportunity in the space because few people offered modern and beautiful marketing solutions to real estate agents. But, like always, other companies started popping up. It makes you feel like you are in a rat race and constantly trying to keep up, which can be exhausting. As much as I try not to compare myself to competitors, it’s impossible not to. We must constantly stay on top of industry trends, adapt to changing consumer demands, and differentiate ourselves. It can be overwhelming, but it motivates us to innovate and improve.

Another hurdle we faced was pivoting the business model a few times. Although it may have been easier to stick to one thing, like website templates for real estate agents, I wanted to offer more value and help women build their businesses beyond just their online presence. Overall While it was challenging to communicate to our audience what we did, it was important to me to build a community and more of a holistic lifestyle brand in the home industry. It has been challenging, but our challenges have made us stronger and more adaptable as a business.

As you know, we’re big fans of Oak & Keys. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?

Our templates are easy to use, visually appealing, and can be customized to match your brand’s unique style. In addition to our website templates, we publish a weekly newsletter called The Weekly Real. It’s a must-read for subscribers who want to stay up-to-date with the latest real estate news and trends. It’s also a source of entertainment, featuring our favorite home goods and exclusive content from our community of industry leaders.

What sets us apart is our focus on design and collaboration. Great design is about aesthetics, functionality, and user experience. Our team of experts helps our members create beautiful, modern, and effective marketing and branding materials that stand out in a crowded market.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The Covid-19 crisis has taught us the importance of community, even if that community is virtual. With social distancing measures in place, we’ve had to find new ways of staying connected and supporting each other. This has highlighted the power of technology to bring people together, even when we can’t physically be in the same place.

At Oak & Keys, we’ve seen firsthand how virtual communities can provide a sense of belonging, support, and inspiration, especially during challenging times. We’ve also learned that flexibility and adaptability are key to surviving and thriving in difficult times. The pandemic has forced us to rethink our strategies and find new ways of reaching and serving our members. We’ve had to be creative and innovative and discovered new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
