Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianna Perona.
Hi Dianna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been a hairstylist for 23 years. In high school, I was able to take cosmetology school as an elective and would leave the campus to attend cosmetology school each day. I fell in love with the craft and started going on weekends because I wanted to graduate and get my license. I wound up with my cosmetology license before I even graduated high school. I assisted the nephew of the creator of Sebastian’s hair products and learned so much of my foundation skills from him. I’ve worked in Silicon Valley and even cut Mark Zucherberg’s hair. When I had my babies, I took 3 years off to be with them, and when we moved to Dripping Springs, I knew no one! And even though I didn’t know anyone, it’s the quickest I’ve ever built a thriving clientele. I work at Blushing Belle Beauty Bar in my private suite and love my salon family. I am more inspired now than ever in my career and doing the best hair I have ever done. I truly love and appreciate my clients. In August, my son had a stroke from a ruptured vein in his brain. I had to step away from work for 9 weeks while he recovered and learned to walk, swallow, and brush his teeth again. He was completely paralyzed on the left side. I couldn’t focus on anything other than him. My clients and friends had a meal train for my family and held us up in prayer to get through it and were eager to get right back in my chair when I could return. It’s more than a job.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Balancing work and family is always a challenge. Struggles in my career would be any time I moved and had to start over and rebuild clientele. And when I took 3 years off to be with my babies, during the at time balayage became a big trend, and I had to learn before I got back behind the chair. And then in August when my 8-year-old son had his stroke, my whole world turned upside down. My family always comes first; I want to be the best wife and mom, but my heart is pulled to be at the salon, and the reward of knowing I’ve made someone feel beautiful when they look in the mirror or more confident drives me.
I am a hairstylist. My passion is color; the blonding techniques have evolved so much over the years, it’s truly an art form now, and I take great pride in my work and the creative execution. I love cuts and colors, and I love to see a transformation all the way through, from start to finish. I’m obsessed with how customizable it is and driven to create my guest’s signature look. I want them to enjoy their time in my chair and appreciate them Choosing me to spend their time with and trusting me with their hair.
Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
My family matters most to me. They are my joy, my heart. I am fulfilled and squeeze every minute out of every day! Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to work while my kids are at school and then pick them up, do karate, make dinner, and balance it all, but I also truly believe that my working feeds a part of my soul that makes me a better mom and wife and happier human.
