Today we’d like to introduce you to Grandmaster. They and their team shared their story with us below:
The Grandmaster is an intergalactic traveler of time and space, writing all he has witnessed in a text known as the Sacred Prophecy. He has made a name for himself, collecting sacred artifacts across the lands of gods and men. This orchestra comprises the Grandmaster’s loyal followers, known as “Zealots.” They perform his ancient interstellar compositions for the people of Earth and celebrate his existence in grand fashion.
The Zealots are prominent Texas musicians:
– Brother Leon (Lick Neon, Acid Carousel, Sexpop, Intellectual Property)
– Brother Eldred (Sexpop, RVRCT, Acid Carousel, Intellectual Property)
– Brother Mizell (Acid Carousel, Sleepy Dog, Sexpop, Intellectual Property)
– Brother Cosmic (Acid Carousel, Intellectual Property, Luxury Television
– Brother Frost (The Cuckoos, Sexpop)
– Brother Dow (Billy Glitter, Gorbit, Wax Dream, Quinn Decker)
– Brother Casey (Narcissus Garden)

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We made a promise to the city of Austin. We vow to play one special monthly concert in town with an afterparty. We also vow one episode of the Grandmaster TV show per month. We are more than a band. We are an orchestra, TV show, comic book series, video game (coming soon), event hosts, and storytelling franchise. Pulling all of this off every month is no walk in the park. We began this promise in April and have succeeded in meeting the expectations once. Almost every show has sold out. The biggest challenge is the time crunch and the sacrifices we have to make to deliver our end of the bargain promptly.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Connor Mizell and Nick Leon grew up in Houston, Texas. They have been working together since they were 15 and began working with the Dallas native Blaise Eldred when they turned 18. We are all three of us 25 years old now. Nick Blaise and Connor joined John Kuzmick’s John Cosmic) project Acid Carousel roughly from 2018-2022. Once they moved to Austin in 2020, they quickly met Kenneth Frost and Nick Dow, renowned local musicians. Nick Leon and Blaise Eldred met Jaxon Casey, the virtuosic South Carolina harpist, during their time at Berklee College of Music, and he was invited to move down to Austin at the beginning of Grandmaster’s birth.
