Maddy Memmer

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved picking out clothes, shopping, and getting dressed up. Buying a new outfit was, and still is, like opening up a new doorway full of endless possibilities. Clothing is not just what we put on our bodies daily; it’s an everyday form of self-expression. We can consciously choose how we want to present who we are to the world through our clothing choices. I never would have guessed that I would have started a business around clothing and fashion. However, we have to follow our passions and desires, and they often lead us down unexpected paths. When I learned about color analysis, I understood there was a more strategic way to pick out flattering clothing, which intrigued me. I became obsessed with figuring out my colors, but I quickly learned that I could not analyze myself accurately and that we are just too biased when it comes to ourselves. I decided to go to a certified color analyst. Once I finished my color analysis, I wanted to learn more about the process and share it with others. I went through a certification program in the DFW area, and it changed my life! I then started my business, and today, I help my clients find their perfect colors for clothing, accessories, hair color, and makeup. In a world constantly telling us how we should look or alter parts of ourselves, I love that color analysis is a natural and easy way to accentuate one’s appearance and boost confidence. I intend to help people feel beautiful in their skin because it’s something we all deserve.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, as it isn’t for most people when starting a business. Balancing a business with other work, maintaining relationships, and making time for self-care is challenging. However, I’m finding my way, and the challenges make the process rewarding as well. The biggest hurdle thus far has been getting out of my own way and believing that I’m fully capable of running a successful business. I’ve heard other entrepreneurs say that running your own business truly comes down to managing your mindset, which is valid for me.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Color Chroma?
I specialize in providing customized personal color analysis, which is different from seasonal color analysis and other category systems. Most color analysis is seasonal, and the problem is that only some fit neatly into little boxes. We are all unique individuals and customized color analysis begins with this premise. Providing custom color analysis is a specialized skill, and there are fewer specialists worldwide that provide this service. I’m known for providing excellent customer service and genuinely caring about my clients. After the initial appointment, I offer a follow-up call/Zoom to continue supporting my clients and answering any questions. I form connections with my clients and care about them beyond making the sale. I’m most proud of helping women feel better about their appearance. My self-love journey hasn’t always been easy, and if I can help one person feel more beautiful, confident, and worthy, I have achieved what I set out to do. Our appearance isn’t everything, but it’s a big piece of the puzzle in our relationship with ourselves, especially for women. I want readers to know they deserve to look in the mirror and love what they see. Wearing the right colors is an easy way to enhance your beauty and, on a deeper level, provides balance and harmony. I will support and encourage you beyond your color analysis session if you become my client. I work on creating a safe and comfortable space for my clients.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a role in my business. Some things fell into place very naturally. When I was looking for a space to rent, I looked online and found a salon two minutes from my house–it couldn’t have been easier and more convenient. When I wanted pictures taken for my website, I discovered my new friend, a photographer, offered to help me. I began researching online to have a logo made but ended up connecting with someone I already knew who happened to be a logo designer. Since starting my business, I’ve experienced many synchronicities that help me realize I’m on the right path. That said, as an entrepreneur, you have to take consistent action. You have to make your luck. Success won’t just fall into your lap–you have to work for it.
