Check Out Addam Chavarria’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Addam Chavarria.

Addam Chavarria

Hi Addam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
At 7, I taught myself to play piano, and it wasn’t until I was in high school that I taught myself to play guitar. I also joined the choir and started busking in the downtown Boise, Idaho area. In 2020, I moved here to Austin and have been playing as much as I can all over. This year will mark 16 years of playing shows and 7 years of doing it full-time. If you want to catch me play, I am at Latchkey on Mondays from 9-12 am with my band, THE OUTTA BODY WALKERS.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2013, I lost my father to liver cancer. I also moved to Austin in 2015/16 to pursue music, but some stuff happened with my family in Idaho, so I had to move back for 3 years. When I finally made it back to Austin, it was 2020, and I drove from Idaho to Austin but got into a 4-car accident in a blizzard in Salt Lake City and lost all my savings. By the time I made it to Austin in February, I made just enough to get by playing shows, then the pandemic hit. Then, in 2021, my aunt, who took me into Austin, passed away from COVID.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I sing and play full-time. I am proud to be doing what I love and learning more and more about music every day. What sets me apart is my voice and guitar playing.

What were you like growing up?
I was and still am obsessed with anything art-wise. I draw/paint/take pictures. My favorite thing to do is making music, though. I would like to make movie scores. In high school, I was also in theater and won state for Solo monologs. I would also like to dip into acting or doing stand-up comedy sometime.
