Meet Magan Blasig of House of Colour Pflugerville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magan Blasig.

Magan Blasig

Hi Magan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi there! I’m Magan Blasig from the northeast suburb of Austin, Pflugerville, TX. I am a book-loving mom of two, and I was colorfully changed when I discovered I was meant to live my best-watercolored summer life instead of a pumpkin spice autumn one. I vividly remember telling my consultant during my color analysis in 2020 that I was an Autumn. She rocked my world when we discovered I am a Summer. Instead of the earthy, mustard colors and red hair I’d been living in, I needed to swap to a cooler, more watercolored look. I went home, walked into my closet to assess, and then immediately turned around, overwhelmed.

Even though it felt a little foreign, I committed to wearing my colors to see what happened. Once I saw the comparison of the cool Summer colors on me versus what I had been wearing, I couldn’t unsee it, and I began to make a change piece by piece. I stripped my closet of the clothes out of season, gave them to friends, and organized my closet in the same color order as my HOC swatch fan. When I saw my hair stylist the next time, we slowly began working my hair to a more summery tone, and that’s when I started to see the magic happen. I looked alive and less tired and felt more approachable and cheerful. I started realizing that it wasn’t my body that needed to change and conform to the clothes, but that instead, there were colors that were better suited for my body just as I am. Style class took my wardrobe to the next level, and I’d been given permission to embrace what I wanted to dress in, and I didn’t have to conform to the trendy styles that quickly and frequently change. I could just be me. After a year and a half of living a more colorful life, I realized I wanted to help others feel comfortable and confident in their wardrobes, too. My body has fluctuated a lot over the last seven years, and at times, that’s not been the easiest thing to embrace.

How do I dress? What looks best on me? Furthermore, what makeup do I wear? I could get refunds for all the money I spent at Sephora on all the wrong colors. I held the Sephora Rogue shopper status, which means a lot of money was spent trying to get it right and figure it all out. I am excited to help clients find the right colors to enhance their best features. Color is transformative and powerful. Style class helps us fill in all the gaps so we can shop intentionally and truly feel confident in the clothing we decide to add to our wardrobe. This process has changed my life, and I love empowering others through color and style.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Getting started with House of Colour was terrifying. I sat on my decision to become a consultant for over a year. Even though my brain swirled with visions of running my own business, I couldn’t escape the fear of it being something no one else would care about. Since beginning this journey, I’ve realized that many people need some TLC, and I love being the person they’re able to welcome into their lives to help guide them. Looking in the mirror, bare-faced, for 2 hours is often uncomfortable for many of my clients. There’s a lot of vulnerability brought to the table — dissatisfaction with how their bodies look, being in a season of transition, having to go back to an office work environment after Covid. Most of my job is centered around helping people find colors that flatter my clients, but there’s a lot of encouragement and cheerleading as they learn who they are and show up boldly in their colors. Many of us are perfectly happy to disappear or sneak into a room unnoticed. Still, I love it when my clients unapologetically celebrate who they are and stop wanting to fade into the shadows.

As you know, we’re big fans of House of Colour Pflugerville. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
COLOR ANALYSIS:
Get dressed every day with purpose, ease, and joy! A color analysis provides you with life-changing information. Using precision-dyed drapes and my extensive training, I will prove to you the value of knowing your season: a palette of colors customized to your unique undertones. We apply this information to women, men, and children of all races, ethnicities, and genders. Your season will never change so you can carry this information for a lifetime.

There are three parts to every color session:

  1. We have refined our world-class, scientific draping process for excellence and accuracy over the past four decades.
  2. I will advise on jewelry, watches, glasses, and, when applicable, hair and make-up based on your season. Our make-up products will eliminate the guesswork of choosing colors that highlight your natural beauty.
  3. We’ll dive further into your season and choose the best colors for your casual and professional life, discovering your list of wow colors.

You will leave your appointment with a fan of your seasonal swatches and a brochure full of tips and reminders specific to you that you can reference later to make shopping and wearing your new colors a confident experience! You should arrive at your analysis free of spray tans and make-up for optimal accuracy. No pictures will be taken without permission or should be on social media without your consent.

STYLE CLASS:
Discover the science behind personal style by unlocking the power of you. During a style analysis, I’ll teach you how to combine who you are with how you dress so you can step out into the world looking fabulous as your authentic self. We consider your proportions, personality, and preferences to give you a style framework- we call this a “Clothing Personality. You will confidently know which fabrics, prints, patterns, accessories, necklines, details, and silhouettes flatter your unique body architecture best. Because we factor your personality into this framework, our style analysis goes a step further to help you identify how you feel in different styles and pieces. Hence, your clothing looks great and represents who you are.

For this appointment, you’ll bring 5–10 items from your closet that you love and 5–10 that make you wonder why you don’t feel good when putting them on. We’ll use this information to help you discover why you gravitated toward and loved certain pieces and what it is about the others that weren’t working for you so you save time and money in the future! At House of Colour, we believe clothing needs to be adjusted to you, not vice versa. Our goal is to make sure you feel confident about who you are and how you look right now.

You’ll leave with a book with detailed information specific to you that we’ll fill out during the appointment and a Clothing Personality card with keywords that will help guide you when shopping. If you’ve already had a color analysis, this card can be inserted into your fan, making shopping easy and efficient!

ADVANCED COLOR ANALYSIS:
Advanced Color Analysis is an opportunity to revisit your season, refresh your seasonal color knowledge, and build upon the foundation of your color analysis. You should explore it at least three to six months after your initial House of Colour color analysis (I am happy to discuss ideal timing with you). During this appointment, we’ll dive deeper into the specifics of your season, show you color combos and more make-up options, and provide specific guidance. You will leave your appointment with an Advanced Color guide in your season, where we will log all color and make-up combinations (we rate them, too!) for future reference. To customize your look further, you may pair this guide with the fan and the color brochure you received at your first color analysis. Sessions take approximately two to three hours, and we will review 40+ color combinations for your season.

Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
Gosh, so many things! I love losing myself in an excellent book with a hot coffee nearby. Many of my clients are readers, too, so I love scribbling down all their book recommendations and heading to a local bookstore to purchase them to read. (I have become friends with many clients and love that reading keeps us connected.) I am a Crossfitter, so I enjoy picking up heavy things and putting them back down. Running? Not so much.
