Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Busby
Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Im Chris! I Started off enlisting into the Army Reserves about 9 years ago. A few years later, I was called to Active Duty where I served on Fort Cavasos, formally Fort Hood. After being there for a few years, I realized that being enlisted wasn’t what I wanted to do, so I put in a packet to become a Pilot as a Chief Warrant Officer, and after some rigorous tests and countless interviews, I was finally selected. I went to Flight School in Fort Novosel, formally Fort Rucker in March of 2020. After successfully passing the course, I came to Austin where I intended on going to college at Austin Community College and living life as a reservist. I was then informed that I would be deploying to Iraq with my new unit. As I prepared for the deployment, I was informed that I could instead be the Rear Detachment Commander for my unit if I’d liked. I loved the idea and decided to take it. While acting Commander, I flew missions all over the States to support Range Fires, Transport Soldiers, and more. It was the time of my life. Eventually, I did realize that although the Army was great, there’s more to life. So after my command, I decided to part ways with Active Duty and continue life as an Army Reservist. I came back to Austin and wanted to start a tech company. I’ve worked with Smart Film in the past and realized that not a lot of people knew about it, so I wanted to Change that. I then started Rapid Glass to bring my passion for technology for Smart Film here to Austin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The biggest challenge is to educate people on the product and show my passion. Unfortunately, we live in a time where we have a lot of non genuine people. So many people hesitate to take interest in my product, fearing that it’s to good to be true. The other challenge I would say is Social Media. I am by far not a guru on it whatsoever, so it is a bit difficult to gain traction.
As you know, we’re big fans of Rapid Glass Atx. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Rapid Glass uses a device that goes on your existing windows that allows you to control the amount of light that comes through, essentially eliminating the need for blinds or curtains. The coolest thing is, we install this device on your existing windows!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
My favorite thing about Austin is it’s diversity. My least favorite is the traffic.
