Hi Ana Karina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there my name is Ana Karina and I am the owner of dream events by Karina – an event decoration company that also provides event coordination services. Our company became public in 2022 following the decline in employment surrounding our “covid years”. I always knew once I turned 40 I wanted to stop working for someone else and instead work for myself while working towards my dreams. What I love the most about this is that while I’m working for myself and my business I’m helping create someone else’s dreams a reality. At the start of my business, like most, my first clients were close friends and family. As time went on and I saw my business expanding, I knew it was time to market and advertise dream events by Karina to a greater extent. I attended a number of networking events and designed business cards to increase my client number. Following this, I began to gain more knowledge and insight on business skills to better help me run a proper business. Many people have asked me how I stay consistent with the plan I set for myself of becoming my own boss. I answer this with simple and honest feelings. My passion and determination keeps me on my clear path for self growth. I love my job and improving my skills is a great joy in my life that I am thankful to experience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Looking back on my business history, I would not consider it a smooth road. One of the many struggles I experienced was being able to make time to work on my business because I am not just a business owner I am a mom of three, a wife, and a daughter so my list of people to look after and care for is extensive. Another main struggle are the effects of my late start in technology, because I only started using any electronic devices at the peak of the pandemic in 2020. Due to this, I had a hard time adjusting to a life online. I had many questions about app usage and found myself continuously curious about my online presence. I still find myself working through these challenges in the present time but what’s a job without hard work?

Our business specializes in event styling/decorating/and coordinating. These factors all come together beautifully to craft the events of my client’s dreams. I believe what sets us apart from other businesses is a difference in what we offer our clients. Most event-based businesses will either focus on decoration or coordination, for them it’s one or the other. However with Dream Events by Karina, we offer both of these choices to make our clients feel more at ease with the event they are hosting. Due to the many things we offer it’s definite that we take most of the stress away from our clients for their big day. Not only this, but we also collaborate with catering companies, bakeries, photographers, and DJs to further offer our clients peace of mind and less hectic planning. This ensures that the event runs as smoothly as possible. We are a family-owned business so we are eager to grow and help other families create dreams and memories for their events. I would love the readers to know that it’s never too late to start working towards your dreams. I know that it’s not easy and it’s very scary to leave corporate America behind, but it has been the best decision I ever made.

My values are very important to me and my business. This matters most to me because I know what my skills are worth. My hard work is something I treasure and something I integrate in every event I help with. The important rules I play by are trust ethics and commitment. This is what I look for with the vendors that I work with.
