We recently had the chance to connect with Arletha Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Arletha , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are absolutely preserved for prayer and meditation it’s a must.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
With programs like SHES EMPOWERED to Boss Babes Healing Podcast our goal at Nu Oil Publishing is to change lives and show others “yes you can”. In fact you should because it’s your birthright to have peace, healing and genuine love. Coaching and mentoring is my passion and life calling. Helping you unpack the past and forgive, creating tools for success, sustainability and self development gives my life meaning.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is silent un-forgiveness and comparison. What restores them is realizing forgiveness is a heart posture that’s for you. That takes work and time, forgiveness isn’t something you should have to look for. It’s a part of your healing that should be ready available like a bandaid. Also realizing your story is just that your story it’s supposed to start and continue differently than anyone else’s. Comparison is a silent relationship killer that can be eliminated by letting go of judgement and jealousy.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me who was really for me. When everything is all good and rainbows people will put on their best acting rolls and fake smiles because they can benefit from you. When your suffering they either feel they can’t use you monetarily anymore or steal from your energy spiritually. Finding the balance in being comfortable with yourself even if that means being alone. While realizing people pleasing is actually you betraying yourself you’ll learn to let go a lot easier and find peace in separation.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Very few people agree with me on taking accountability where people have hurt you or done you wrong. Not realizing when you look at any part you played whether it be ignoring warning signs to staying silent in situations you should have spoken out. Whatever the case may have been, when you take accountability you take ownership and you get all your power back. Leaving the one who hurt you incapable of ever hurting you again. Not only is everything exposed, they’re now powerless. It sets the stage for intentional self preservation and allows to see where you shouldn’t be handing out your power and your energy.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m doing what I was born to do defy all odds and hand others the keys to do the same. Most importantly I’m staying in alignment with God as a leader you have to be smart enough to know you don’t know it all. That it’s all about his timing. Just when you think it’s time to start that business or get married, God could be telling you it’s not. Staying in alignment looks like you being open to the signs that you may need to wait so you can build enough to sustain the blessing. That the blessing will find and you and it comes with peace.
