Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Rebold.
Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story, like so many these days, started on Instagram. To keep it brief, a casting Director found me when they were looking to recast the Sonic commercials. Remember the two guys that were there for years? They wanted to switch it up to real people, and I had posted a comedic video at a Sonic Drive-In once that had been found. Alas, my friends and I were not quite right for their vision. Luckily, the casting agent was dead set on putting me somewhere. Through several project misfires (oh God, Love Island), she didn’t give up on me. Then came the newest concept from Gordon Ramsay: Next Level Chef on Fox. I’ve never worked in a kitchen or gone to culinary school, but the whole premise of the show was passionate home cooks versus Internet celebrities and professional chefs. My story started there and has had a breakneck momentum ever since!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect? Is the road ever smooth?
There’s no great story without potholes and hairpin turns. Learning the ropes of large-scale professional cooking as someone who had never done this for more than three or four friends, dealing with public opinion, Reddit sub-threads, and even hate mail, love letters, and online proposals. There’s been a lot of noise that could’ve distracted me from the joy. Getting to feed people and show them the love that comes with it is a happy ending, no matter the preceding chapters.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a private event chef specializing in groups of 25 or fewer, whether it’s a bachelorette party, a block party, a birthday, or a promotion. I customize menus from all over the world to fit the celebration and the guest. Ultimately, it’s all about showing people love in a language that speaks to them. What’s most popular are the heavy-hitting grazing boards I call charDUDErie. Imagine charcuterie, but instead of light-bite deli meats and cheeses, you’re getting ribeye, bone marrow, scallops, potatoes, veggies, and more. The sky is the limit far beyond imagination!
We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is when you go to sleep at night feeling content. You gave it your all. You’re proud of who you are, what you brought to the day, and how you impact others. Getting to show people love and make them feel good through food is the most I could hope for in feeling successful. Cracking a few jokes, too, can’t hurt.
