Check Out Andres Santiago’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Santiago.

Hi Andres, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a wedding photographer back in Puerto Rico. Business was always good there until 2017 that Hurricane Maria happened and it literally stopped my business… I even had a huge tree fall in my car and we had no lights for months so my brother who was in the army at the time stationed in Ft hood offer me to come to TX and start from scratch with my business as I had lost all my gear and everything due to the water that got in the apartment. Finally here in TX in late November of 2017 I started looking for jobs to get a house for my wife, son and I… Also started saving for new gear (started trying to get jobs with a cheap Camera Sony @6000). After lots of turn downs and sketchy people trying to take advantage (a LOT) I was able to get clients based on Promotion videos. About four months ago, we were able to buy a house and I can say that I have all the gear I always wanted plus enough clients to call my passion a really good paying job.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, I’ve dealt with horrible situations here in TX and had to spend many days with little food for me and my family, sleeping in couches, etc. Like I said, many people have tried to take advantage so I’ve had to learn along the way how to conduct my business and with whom.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started as a photographer but expanded to video to the point where I don’t do many photography jobs anymore, only passion projects. I’m very proud of my work and usually try to go with my gut feeling about most jobs with photos or videos. That gut feeling always takes me into my flow state which is when original content starts coming out.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I plan on sticking to my guns and going steady in my video career, I don’t plan on getting famous or becoming a millionaire as those are not motivations for me. I just want to grow as an artist and keep my clients happy so they can refer more and more in the future. Just want to enjoy life with my family and get enough money to pay the bills and buy guitars, lol.
