Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Jasinski.
Hi Angie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Angie Jasinski, emigrated from China to US in 2000, lived in NYC for about 1 year, then moved to Austin TX. I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance & Master Certification in Accounting.
My initial move to US was done at the spur of the moment after I decided to get my master’s degree in US. I took the chance because I felt the moment was right. After I moved to US, met with my husband, got married, got a job, and had a baby. So here I am.
As a buddha’s woman, I am quite diverse, along with my cross-cultural experience. I was born and raised in Beijing and speak Chinese/English – I have a set of experiences and worldviews that slightly differ from those held by most Westerns. As such, I am certain that I can help immigrates with my finance and banking background, not only by sharing the experience and worldviews, also by helping to overcome financial disadvantage.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve seen life in US through different lens, it definitely has not been a smooth road, and I’m very grateful for that. I feel the bumps are crucial in helping me pave my way.
As a first-generation immigrant, I have to say it’s challenges to integrate into a new culture, adapt to a new language, customs, and social norms; language Barriers also leads to feelings of isolation and difficulty accessing resources; plus limited job opportunities, some immigrants may encounter prejudice and discrimination based on their ethnicity, language, immigration status; navigate the system, such as healthcare, education, and legal aid can be challenge too.
I still remembered my first job offer from Forester Financial by Bruce Golden 20 some years ago. After 30 job applications with no success, I was disappointed and exhausted, but I did not give up. I took time to refine my resume, highlight skill and experience, and kept applying. One day I got a call from Bruce Golden for an in-person interview. Bruce took a chance on me, gave me an offer, I took the opportunity to get the Group 1 license done in 2 weeks and then joined the great Foresters Financial. Over the time, I have switched my jobs between Insurance company and banks, But Dr. Oronhyatekha, the man behind Foresters Financial purpose’s beliefs “Doing good and giving back” inspired me to pursue on with my dreams and passion.
