Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Romani.
Hi Anna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am excited to be here! To get started, you should know that I have always been into photography, but I started getting serious about photography when I became an editor for my high school’s yearbook, and I began photographing various events at my school. During the COVID-19 quarantine, I had more time to explore it, and I decided to take it to the next level. That was when I started Anna Romani Photography.
Since then, my business has grown and even has followed me to college at Baylor University. Over the past two years, I have gotten the absolute privilege of photographing my client’s most special days and milestones, whether that is their high school or college graduation, their wedding day, or just capturing their family at its current stage!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started my business when I was just 16 years old, so naturally, that comes with some challenges. The biggest would probably be learning to balance being a full-time student and business owner. I had to navigate owning my business amidst graduating high school and moving to college.
Another challenge I faced was transitioning my business from northern Virginia (my home) where I knew a lot of people and was fairly established, to a completely new area when I moved to central Texas. The markets are very different, and of course, I didn’t know as many people at first, so I had to get creative with my marketing!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The photography services that I specialize in are high school senior shoots and college grad shoots, couple’s shoots, and weddings.
I would say what sets me apart from other photographers would be the personalized experience each client gets, along with all of the resources I provide my clients for their shoots. The client process always kicks off with a one-on-one consult call so I can give advice, help my client make decisions on things such as the location, and we can get to know each other. Also, I want all of my clients to feel confident going into their shoots, so I have created guides that help them prepare (such as my “Ultimate Senior Shoot Guide” that I provide to all of my senior clients that gives them hair and makeup tips, outfit tips, prop ideas, a checklist, etc.).
Finally, there is a bigger purpose behind my business. I donate 25% of my proceeds to a rural village that I visited in Wakiso, Uganda. The money goes towards three main areas in the village: the clinic, school, and children. So far, I have gotten the opportunity to provide a pregnant mom with medical care and supplies for her pregnancy, buy new books for the kids, and purchase uniforms for the students in the primary school. It means so much to me that I get to give back as part of my business, and there is a mission behind everything I do!
Any big plans?
I am really looking forward to shooting more weddings in the future! I love getting to be a part of such special days and giving my clients photos so they can relive their wedding day forever!
