Hi Calyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Eightseventeen was coined from the fact that I was number 8 in a family of 13, and started playing around with the idea of my business at 17 years old. Growing up in a large family, I prioritized organization and cleanliness. From a young age, I would help my mom with the design and flow of our house. It seemed so natural to me to start a business from something that is not only my passion, but also blesses others in a such a beautiful way. There is nothing like the look on someone’s face after they see their transformed space.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most business start-ups, there were initial doubts- wondering if I was good enough or if anyone would even like my work. But through the multiple projects, I have completed, my confidence has grown and the feedback I have received from my clients has been more than enough to encourage me to continue pursuing my dream.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do everything. And I would say I do everything well. I can patiently help people work through the process of decluttering, staging a house, organizing, decorating, or making paper or digital designs tailored to the owner’s desires.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My genuine concern for the client’s home and well-being. I pride myself on my relationships and clear and effective communication. Communication is essential when determining a client’s hopes and desires.
