Today we’d like to introduce you to Eyal Amsellem
Hi Eyal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Was brought up in a big loving family in a small city by the ocean. I loved spending my time in the water, exploring what’s around with a great sense of adventure and curiosity. Growing up in the 90s/00s, getting your hands on a camera was a pretty rare thing but every now and then when I would come across one, I’d get really curious about it – the fact I could capture my vision in a frame was fascinating in my eyes.
My mom, who was the best person I’ve ever known, a beacon of love, light and kindness, got me a little pocket camera for my 18th birthday. I took it everywhere and fell in love with capturing the magic in faces and landscapes I meet.
I’ve followed my passions around the world, landed in Austin in 2022 and started Candescent Photography.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the things I am most grateful for is the ocean.
It has given me tools that help me improve and grow in all aspects of life. tools like breathing, balance, flow, gratitude, consistency, grit and many more. It has taught me significant lessons and has a lot to do with how I view life and approach it.
When a challenge comes my way or I find myself in rough water, I pull out my toolbox, look at the situation/problem for what it is and calmly figure out ways to flow through and navigate across one step at a time.
Getting injured countless times while surfing, sometimes pretty bad and in remote breaks – I learned that what cultivates the best problem solution space is breathing and keeping calm.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have honed my skills over the years, seeking to master the art of visual storytelling through my photographs. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape or a candid portrait, I strive to infuse each image with emotion and authenticity. I find fulfillment in knowing that I can freeze moments in time, allowing them to be cherished for years to come. Collaborating with my clients to bring their vision to life brings me great joy, every project is an opportunity to create something truly special and to make meaningful connections with those I work with. I am eager to learn and grow, taking inspiration from the world around me and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. My goal is to continue capturing the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary and to share the unique stories that unfold through my photographs.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Every Saturday morning, visiting the garden around the house with my mom, watching the flowers and fruit trees grow and decay through the seasons, together appreciating the serenity and beauty of nature, being grateful, being happy.
