Check Out Francheska Martinez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francheska Martinez.

Francheska, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first got interested in fitness back in college, in 2011 when I wanted to learn how to change my body composition. Initially, I took a fitness elective class just to learn how to use the equipment at the gym and gain muscle – little did I know I had entered a whole new world. After the first class, I decided to take on Exercise Sports Science as a Minor. Then in 2016, after working for an entire year post-graduation at an office job, I decided to pursue my passions and take on fitness training professionally.

I moved back home to Miami, Florida and started studying to become a certified personal trainer, then started taking on family and friends as my first clients. After a few months, I began to intern at a local functional fitness gym and got my first job training group classes and 1-1 private sessions.

One of the lessons that I learned early on was to always be a student and to constantly sharpen your tools. Therefore I have always made it a professional mission to frequently attend continuing education courses, to have mentors and coaches, and to continue adding new skills and methodologies into my skillset.

After establishing myself in the personal training industry in Miami, I moved to Austin where I began to get more involved in online training and teaching workshops across the nation.

Currently, I specialize in functional strength training and movement, where I predominately use kettlebells and bodyweight training methods, as well as a variety of other unconventional tools like clubbells, steel maces, and suspensions trainers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely been smooth. From moving my business to a new state, transitioning to online training, then learning how to manage my business, there has always been a challenge at every corner. But the most important part of a challenge to me is cultivating the proper mindset and plan of action to overcome it and turn the challenge into a lesson that we can grow from.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hybrid coach, where half of my business is online coaching and the other half is in-person coaching. For the online coaching portion, I offer online video programs where I coach students through workouts and educational modules, and for the in-person training, I primarily offer private 1-1 or semi-private training.

Throughout the years, I have also included other teaching opportunities, like hosting week-long movement retreats, teaching workshops across the US, and well as hosting events.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck has played a role by meeting the right people at the right time, both personally and professionally.
