Check Out Gigi Cordell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gigi Cordell.

Hi Gigi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We purchased 1890 Karcher Haus in 2016 with the intent to restore and bring the historical home back to its glory.

The home was built in 1890 when Llano was booming with growth and a surgence of German immigrants.

My mother is full blooded German and Karcher is my Grandmother’s maiden name. So, the name seemed fitting to our establishment.

We decided to turn it into a traditional Bed and Breakfast to share the homecand it’s history with visitors to Llano. We have been in operation now since 2019. By traditional, I mean that we are 1 of two BnBs in town that actually cook breakfast for our guests. We are NOT an Airbnb.

We have expanded our operations to Karcher Haus Kuche (kitchen) were we share German/Mediterranean influenced soups, sandwiches, herbal teas. Medicinal herbs and much more with Llano visitors. We are open for lunch from 11-3; Tues – Friday and our kitchen is located on the town square just across from the post office.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Having a background in Fine Art, I have used my training to design and decorate 1890 KarcherHaus BnB with turn of the century art and decorations. The 1890s were the end of the Victorian and the beginning of the Industrial Age. A time of Steam trains, Steel buildings, beginnings of the first Automobiles, electricity, etc.

The entire home is decorated and designed around these eras. A visitor can fall back in time, when life was just a bit simpler and enjoy Antiques, Fine Art and feel the unique life this home brought to its original builders and families that lived here before.

My passion for good, unique food brought me to cooking (which is an Art in itself) and my creations both Breakfast and Lunch leave a visitor satisfied and wanting more.
