Check Out Gralyn Stiehl’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gralyn Stiehl

Hi Gralyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Medicine Tree began as myself, the vocalist, Gralyn Stiehl and lead guitarist Luke Walters jamming as friends. We had originally met in Facebook and were an acoustic duo playing covers and busking periodically.

One night I had a dream in which I saw an owl (a symbol of good luck in my family) and then I saw Luke and myself playing rock music with a full band. When I awoke I messaged him and asked him to bring his electric guitar and hence the new rock began.

Luke had previously met Brandon (Rhythm Guitar), Jake (Bass), and our previous drummer at the Sapian Center during an open jam. He reached out to them and before long the Medicine Seed began to sprout.

Since then we have written seven original songs, onboarded Brian (Drummer), recorded our first single, ‘Twisted’, and have played several venues and house parties.

Our vision of the future is for the Medicine Tree to grow and branch out into the musical vision of our dreams, the new rock.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, definitely not. We had to start creating original content to replace the covers we were playing, Along with that, we needed to prove ourselves and break into a saturated music market. We’ve have also had a lineup change in the drummer, which is never easy.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a group of musicians who specialize in rock and roll. We are most proud of all our original songs. What sets us apart from other rock bands is our professional attitude and unique songwriting approach. We aspire to be the “New Rock” of Austin and of the World.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Theo Von, Joe Rogan, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, King of the Delta Blues by Calt Stephen
