Hi Hima, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a portrait photographer and I specialize in Newborn, Children, Maternity and Family portraiture.
I always have this feeling that pictures are the form where we capture memories and relive the moments whenever we look at them.
I can say that my dad is my inspiration. I love the way my dad documented every stage of our childhood and our family moments in a beautiful and special way. My mom nurtured that little artist in me by introducing me to colors and encouraged me by sending me to drawing/ painting classes when I was a kid and I believe my love for colors is playing an important role in my photography style.
I started photography as a hobby and I never imagined that it would become my profession especially after doing my Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery. When I was thinking of a career switch, my husband and my parents supported me with my decision of being a photographer. Today, I’m glad I’m doing the work I love as my full-time job.
I started photographing everything initially and I fell in love with photographing babies, children, pregnancy and families. For me, nothing is more magical than a child’s smile, nothing is more fascinating than pregnancy and nothing is more precious than a family bond. I feel very lucky to document them and create memories that will last for a lifetime.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I am very lucky to have supporting family, friends and wonderful clients.
I learnt my photography basics from my husband and later on, found my photography mentors, whose work inspired me and made me to learn more advanced techniques… Of course, it is not always a smooth ride but patience, hard work, and constant learning helped me to overcome those challenges and to achieve my own style in photography. I must say, my husband plays a very important role in my photography journey and he is my huge support system.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I offer portrait photography services in Austin and surrounding suburbs. I think my love for colors, nature, constant learning with implementing new techniques and not compromising on quality makes me unique.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have a wonderful childhood and I have many beautiful memories… to mention some… building sandcastles, playing in rain, catching butterflies, blowing soap bubbles, painting, my brother and I going out for ice cream with my dad on weekend mornings, visiting grand parents and aunt’s place for holidays, going to my mom’s workplace, little fights with my brother and most importantly family time.
