Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Rocha.
Hi Janet, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
XOXO Picnics started from a photoshoot idea that I wanted to do for my personal Instagram page. It was the beginning of 2021, and my hobby at the time was making content for Instagram. I mostly shared fun Instagramable places to visit and cute outfits. I wanted to set up a beautiful photo shoot with a fancy picnic that I had seen done in LA while vacationing. I have always loved to host parties, and I had already set up a similar setup in my backyard for an intimate picnic dinner party in May of 2017. While I was preparing for the photoshoot and researching, I thought this would be a fun business. I was back and forth on the idea, and with the support of my husband, I decided to give it a chance. I began all the planning for XOXO Picnics and even had a branding shoot downtown Austin at Auditorium Shores. A couple of weeks after the photo shoot, I discovered that luxury picnics are not permitted to be set up at downtown parks like Zilker Or Auditorium Shores. At that point, I almost gave up because I was unsure where I could offer the picnics. I did a lot of research after and found a few places I was able to set up, and within a few weeks of launching my website and social media, I booked 3 picnics right away. The 2nd one was 18 guests. The rest is history; we are entering our 3rd summer in business.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most of the time, it has been a smooth road. My amazing and supportive husband always helps me with the events. He also builds all our picnic tables and is the muscle behind carrying everything. Some of the struggles along the way have been balancing my time. I also work a full-time job at an IT company in town. I have less free time for friends and family and not much time to do things I enjoy like working out. Another challenge we face is bad weather. I’m so excited to announce we are opening a studio called XOXO Galleries LLC where events can be held indoors. We are so excited and will be sharing more on that very soon.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, XOXO Picnics specialize in small events with 2-30 guest; we do proposals, showers, birthday parties, date nights, bachelorettes, and anniversaries, and just because events. You do not need a special event to host a picnic. We also offer taller tables and chairs so you do not have to sit on the floor if you do not want to. We are known for beautiful picnics and for having a variety of theme options to choose from. I am most proud of how we have grown this little company to a successful brand and all the wonderful connections we have made. What sets us apart is that we try to think of all the little details. You will have everything you need to have a great time when you show up to your event.

Customer satisfaction is very important. I love seeing how happy customers are when they arrive at their event. We have had many repeat clients or clients referred to us by previous clients. What matters most is that our clients are happy with their events.
