Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaxon Mune.
Hi Jaxon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2017, I moved from Austin to a very rural town in North Texas. Most of my days were spent in isolation. I felt like an outcast in my environment so I spent a lot of my free time listening to music, specifically rap music. I grew a deep appreciation for the way that artists were able to convey their emotions and experiences so vividly. Eventually, I scraped up enough money for a cheap microphone and started to rap about my own life experiences. I initially viewed my music as fun yet private escape from the real world, but during the pandemic, I was forced to look within myself at a deeper level. During this period my music became much more genuine and vulnerable. My passion for the art grew and I decided to start sharing my songs with others. I have since moved back to Austin and currently, my main focus is creating art that people can confide in. I managed to gain a fanbase of amazing supporters who have shown me an immense amount of love and I am very excited for the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to get to where I am today has been filled with ups and downs. I’ve dealt with many tribulations in my personal life along the way. I speak about a lot of them in my music and they are a large reason why I strongly advocate for mental health awareness. Isolation brought me clarity and spiritual growth, but it also made me feel alone when I was dealing with hardships.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Jaxon Mune and I’m a musician and overall creative who specializes in rap music. Most of my songs consist of me rapping over beats crafted from jazz samples. The majority of my discography has been produced, mixed and mastered by a very talented up-and-coming producer by the name of Flousen. I’m known for the raw emotion and energy that I put into my music. I believe that this is what sets me apart from others. I don’t make music to gain notoriety or fame. I simply find an emotion or an experience and do everything that I can to allow it to be felt by others. I genuinely love being able to create something that feels authentic. I touch on topics, such as mental illness, societal injustice, toxic relationships, and the trials of living with trauma. I’ve drawn many comparisons to artists like Tyler, The Creator, Joey Bada$$, Boldy James and Earl Sweatshirt. I’m currently preparing to release my debut album titled, Aluna, on August 24th. I’m extremely proud of every single track on the album and I am looking forward to its release.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is creating art that people can seek refuge in. I want my words to help those that are battling their own hardships. When I felt alone, the words of others gave me peace and inspiration. I hope to provide the same thing to other people.
