Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Dahlke & Shannon Carr.
Hi Jen & Shannon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We have known each other for over ten years, and both shared a love for making cocktails. One Christmas we got a gin infusion kit and started meeting to make cocktails with our infusions. This quickly grew to sharing these creations on Instagram, which was great timing because we had just entered the pandemic and this was a great way to virtually spend our time. After about six months, we had several groups reach out about us hosting virtual happy hours where we would put together cocktail kits for everyone attending and walk them through making the drinks virtually. Between these events and continuing to grow our Instagram following, we’ve definitely had the best of both worlds – we have filled our glass and get to drink it too.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Altogether, it has been a pretty smooth road! When you’re working with your best friend, you’re thankful for the opportunity to choose your co-worker!! We also got “lucky” during the pandemic because we had time to spend creating the virtual experience and the audience we needed to be successful. People were also looking for these types of creative team building activities they could do remotely. Our struggle will be to find our next move as people come out of quarantine and more things are in-person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We come from very different professional backgrounds. Jen worked in pharmaceutical research and eventually started a software company with her husband, and Shannon was a professional hairstylist who was in the process of transitioning into real estate. We are both go-getters and think what sets us apart is the desire to bring joy and fun into the experience and being flexible enough to help meet the needs of our clients. What are we most proud of? That we have taught ourselves how to be mixologists and continue to learn and grow.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That we are actually related!!! We have a very interesting family tree and Shannon, although not much older, is actually Jen’s Great Aunt by marriage!
