Check Out Jo Feathers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Feathers

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Over a decade ago, at the age of 21, I faced a life-changing diagnosis: psoriasis. At one point, nearly 90% of my skin was covered in inflamed, bleeding lesions… did I mention they also itch like poison ivy? The consensus from multiple dermatologists was less than positive; my case was considered too severe for anything but the most aggressive treatments. I was prescribed biologics—powerful drugs similar to chemotherapy in their intensity—with little explanation of their side effects or any discussion about the underlying triggers of my disease.

Over time, I learned that medication was not my only option after seeing someone online who had healed through natural methods and immediately knew, “If they can do it, so can I.”

Over the years, my personal experiences have transformed me into an advocate for those facing autoimmune diseases, a coach who empowers others to overcome adversity, and a voice that challenges the notion of conventional medical wisdom as the first and only option for relief.

My mission is to illustrate the resilience of the human body and mind when properly nurtured and to encourage mindfulness, movement, and holistic care as fundamental to healing.

Today, I am a testament to the power of self-advocacy and informed choices. I share my journey not just as a survivor of psoriasis and profound losses but as someone who has thrived through these challenges. I hope to empower others to take control of their health with a mindful approach, using my adversities as catalysts for growth. My life’s path shows how adversity can teach and transform us, revealing paths to healing both physically and mentally. By sharing my story, I hope to light a path for others, showing that it’s possible to turn struggles into strengths.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been far from a smooth road. Through the years, I’ve faced a series of deep personal losses, including witnessing the murder of my brother, my father’s imprisonment, and later his death from illness, as well as my own battles with psoriasis and healing trauma. Each challenge tested my resilience and pushed me to new limits. Adding to the mix of already difficult moments I worked to manage my auto-immune issues through a process of trial and error which was its own battle trusting a process I didn’t full understand.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known for naturally healing my Psoriasis flare within a 7-month goal after being told I would be on extreme biologics for the rest of my life. I did so using the basics, movement, nutrition, and mindfulness. Outside of that, I am a wellness coach through my fitness app where I teach anyone looking to improve their life the power of daily mindfulness, movement, and proper nutrition. I am proudest of turning every obstacle meant to break me into fuel and motivation to propel me forward.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The wellness industry continues to thrive, especially with rising rates of chronic diseases and obesity. I believe a significant shift in focus towards mental and emotional health, rather than just physical, is essential. Also, placing a heavier focus on sustainable, natural health practices over trendy diets and workouts. It’s time to get back to the basics.
