Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Kinkade.
Hi Kevin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was working in Houston as an outside salesman in Houston and got involved in local theater. I moved to Austin where I was signed up by a couple of talent agents and started auditioning for movies and TV shows but left to work for Apple Computer where I learned quite a bit about video and website production. I left Apple and started working as an actor again and made a couple of erotic art movies, using models I had hired, which I sold online but the business changed and it was difficult to make any money in that field anymore so I started selling prints from the movie. I then started hiring models to pose for photographs which I am now selling on my online store, Wild Street Store. I also sell T-Shirts, hats, hoodies, and coffee mugs from the photographs and some graphic art that I have purchased the licenses to. These products appeal to the rock and roll crowd and motorcycle enthusiast, featuring beautiful models in various themes such as posing on Harley Davidson motorcycles, wearing western outlaw clothing, posing in urban streets, etc.. I also have a photography website, Wild Street Photography, where I offer model photography, event photography, actor headshots, and video reels as well as photography and video editing. I am currently working on screenplays and exploring the possibility of production, using Alex Ferrari’s “filmtrepeneur” method of multiple streams of income. Right now, the focus is on getting the product out there in public awareness through video ads that I produce and stream on various social media outlets. I am also still auditioning for movies and television acting roles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a tough road because I still have to earn money doing rideshare which leaves me little time to work on advancing my product line.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor that follows directions well which makes me well-liked by directors and film crews. I am able to deliver what is asked for with originality and authenticity. I tend to play the outlaws, bikers, hit men, bad cops, etc. I believe that my life experience provides me with a good point of reference for bringing these types of characters to life. I also feel that I have a very good eye for the camera and am able to capture images with the right timing and composition. My skill with applications such as Photoshop and Lightroom, help to bring these photos to their highest potential. I am also skilled in video editing using Adobe Premier. My ability to fit the cuts into the right sequence and time is a skill that is as much intuitive as learned. I have also directed a few plays and movies and feel that I have a good grasp in bringing out the best in my performers and models.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe that the indie film industry will have the same effect on big studio productions as the punk rock era had on the music recording industry. Indie producers are willing to take risks and are more innovative. Hollywood is losing its appeal just as big arena rock has lost its appeal as more independent bands and musicians were able to produce their own CDs and MP3s in their basements and market them themselves, effectively cutting out the middleman.
