Check Out Lacey Ramirez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Ramirez

Hi Lacey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. Unfortunately my childhood was a bit tumultuous and at age 9 my parents separated then ultimately divorced a few years later. From age 9 through my teen years I moved constantly from rental to rental with my mom. The divorce really torched her credit so we were always on the move, at some point I stopped unpacking boxes in my room because I figured what was the point, we’d probably be leaving soon anyway. At age 17 I started working part time with my aunt at a non-surgical hair replacement salon in Wall Township. I started by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and assisting her in the back room with cleaning pieces/wigs. It became very rewarding to see people leave so happy, their confidence restored and I also saw it as a good opportunity to save my own money to get a place of my own to finally have some stability in my life. Because I was terrified of burying myself in student debt, I got my cosmetology license while still in high school and I ended up working for my aunt for 13 years. While working in the non-surgical hair replacement industry was rewarding I also became overworked, burned out, and realized along the way I wasn’t sure I truly had a passion for it like others in the industry did. One day my husband and I talked about moving out of New Jersey and Austin always had a place in my heart. Years earlier I had the privilege of visiting for a work convention and I had instantly fallen in love with the vibrancy of the city. So, my husband and I planned a trip for my 30th birthday and one trip was all it took for him to catch the same feelings I had caught.

Months after our trip my husband was offered a great promotional opportunity in Austin, it felt as though the stars had aligned so we jumped at the chance. I’m lucky enough that his position allowed me to get here, take a mental break, and really evaluate what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought back to my life, my longing for stability, a solid foundation around me and roof over my head. I thought about what elements in my previous career did I cherish the most, what areas did I excel at. After taking all of that into consideration I landed on real estate. I have a severe passion for helping people, being there for people, and I want to help anyone who’s ever had to hop from place to place find that stable foundation. I like to think ‘home” is more than the walls around you, it’s the people and love you fill it with. However, there’s truly no greater feeling than when you lay your head down at night and look around the room to take in what you’ve achieved. Home ownership is an incredible accomplishment and I find so much joy in helping people achieve that goal.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far the real estate road has been fairly smooth, the biggest thing is being able to adjust as the market changes and simply ride the wave. I’m lucky enough to have aligned myself with an amazing brokerage. My colleagues in my office truly feel like family and I’ve never felt more supported, someone’s always there when you need something, even when you have a tire blowout on 35 (shoutout to Maggie Galleymore and Hank Marsh for really helping a girl out).

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a real estate sales agent with JBGoodwin Realtors and we’ve been serving the Greater Austin area for over 50 years. Our mission statement which resonates deeply with me is simply to “Help People.” We specialize in helping homebuyers, sellers and renters find homes that fit their unique needs and specifications. I work primarily out of the Round Rock office but we have a total of four offices in the Austin area, plus offices in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Boerne. We have been consecutively named a Top Workplaces award winner for 12+ years. Additionally, we take part in frequent volunteer and fundraising activities for local organizations, including Habitat For Humanity, the San Antonio and Central Texas Food Banks, and a number of others. These are just a couple of reasons I am super proud to be a part of the JBGoodwin family, we truly have the best team in the industry!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Don’t be afraid to get out there and meet people. I’m not gonna lie, I have days where I feel very introverted and want to stay home with my two dogs, but going to networking events is a great way to get your name out there and meet not only other agents but people from all walks of life that can help support your business with their services. Go to local community events, farmer’s markets, or even something as simple as bringing a treat to your healthcare provider’s office goes a long way to help you get your name out there. As far as finding a mentor, definitely set up time to talk with top producing agents in your office to gain valuable insight on how they got to where they are today. You can also look for social media accounts that speak to you. Social media is a great way for you to find successful agents whether they’re in your area or somewhere else that you can connect with and gain wisdom from.
