Check Out Lizzy May’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzy May.

Hi Lizzy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Five months ago, I left my nearly decade-long career in corporate banking to do anything else. I have no idea what I’d like to be when I grow up–but I crave creativity. Five months after my departure from the corporate world, I am finding new passions and sharing my chaotic journey on IG and TikTok as “Lizzy.Tries”. The name came to my husband while we were in an Uber to dinner one night. He calls me a hummingbird. I like to bounce between 10,000 different challenges at a time. Recently, I started making custom hand-painted banners (check my IG). I love Austin. I consider myself very lucky to live here. The food, the people, and the access to nature are incredible. I’m just a native Texan, Austin transplant trying my way through this beautiful new stage of life!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Dad would say “It’s about the journey, not the destination.” I’ll admit: leaving behind a 10-year banking career to try social media was bold. But life is short and I never really felt “called” to be a banker in the first place. This pivot was needed, and I’m so thankful for my husband for supporting my dreams and encouraging me to give “Lizzy.Tries” a try!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love sharing the day-to-day. I’m a 30 year old living in Austin experiencing the world in new and different ways with a revived love for life! My days never look too similar. Food, travel, skincare, art, home design, fitness classes, movies, concerts, etc. etc. I, like most girls, love sharing new hacks and hidden gems everyday with my friends. I love walking into a store, chatting with the owner, accidentally learning their entire “origin” story on accident. I like to jump around. I am equal parts joy and chaos!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
joy, curiosity, creativity, vision, accountability, honesty, levity!
