Check Out Mikaela & Jordan Burchill’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikaela & Jordan Burchill.

Hi Mikaela & Jordan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We met in college when we were both 18 years old studying music. We were best friends all throughout school but never dated. After graduating, we moved to Austin, Texas with a bunch of friends. Within the first month we ended up dating, and a couple years later, we got married. Right when we started dating, we began writing songs together and decided to form our duo, Beth // James. We’ve been releasing music for a while now, had a song in Spike Lee’s Academy Award-winning movie, BlacKkKlansman, and get to tour all over together (USA, Europe/UK).

This past year we’ve been writing and recording a ton and have lots of new music on the way. We just dropped a new single called “Time Travel” on April 10th. Go stream it on Spotify!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s always struggles being an artist and maintaining a work-life balance. Especially when you’re in a marriage and a musical partnership at the same time. That’s something we’re always navigating and always getting better at year after year!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re an Americana duo. We love playing at The Saxon Pub – our home away from home. The thing that sets us apart is our harmony. We love singing together and have been doing it for a really long time. There’s nothing like singing with the person you love. We’re most proud of ourselves for creating a life where we get to travel, tour, sing & write songs, and make a living doing music together.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Go out and see music. Go out and hangout with people in the world you want to be a part of. You’ll always fine people in your community you can relate to who are on a similar journey.
