Check Out Rachel Silva’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Silva.

Rachel Silva

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Rachel Silva, a self-taught, intuitive abstract artist who works primarily with various acrylics and other mixed media. I started doing this to cope with the enormous loss, when my mother passed away. I found something very cathartic about shutting my brain off and creating something interesting. I love experimenting with different colors, textures, and techniques to further my talent and push my boundaries. In the 5 years I’ve been doing this, I have been fortunate to say that several of my clients are all over the United States – Texas, Michigan, Ohio, California, Washington, New Mexico, and Colorado! Even though I love my clients, this artistic journey will always be for me first and foremost. There has been so much fulfillment from this passion in my life that I never knew was missing previously.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
That’s a great question! I’ve always been the type of person who believes that everything happens at the exact time you need it to, even with hardships. This gives us growth and teaches us the lessons we need to evolve constantly. There are always bumps along the way; if it’s an easy path, we don’t learn from that. The artistic failures, creative blocks, and setbacks don’t phase me for too long – because I accept those as a learning experience to keep me moving. Primarily, just the process of getting my hands dirty and shutting off my brain while I am in the flow is the absolute best therapy!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Sure, I’m an abstract intuitive artist, and for me, that means my art is more spontaneous and created without a plan, based on feelings rather than thinking. Many of my emotions get put on the canvas because I feel this need to create. I’ve always been drawn to music, colors, and textures, and being able to combine all of that with emotions is beyond words. I’m mostly proud of connecting with others through my creations and having a client or another artist feel something in one of my pieces.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t know that I believe in luck. I believe in pushing my boundaries and connecting with others to provide opportunities for us all to expand and experience. I’m a big believer in community and support from everyone, and I try to provide that as much as possible. I guess I would say that I’m ‘lucky’ for all the experiences, good & bad, and the people in my life because they helped shape me.
