Hi Shawn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve taken a winding road to get here, from military service to careers that taught me discipline, detail, and resilience. When I landed in Central Texas, I saw how much better the home inspection experience could be, and I built CenTex Inspection Services around that vision.
Today our team focuses on clarity, speed, and honesty, delivering same-day reports, video walk-throughs, and even helping families connect utilities. At the end of the day it’s about giving people peace of mind during one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business from scratch always comes with challenges, from the uncertainty of those first few months to the reality of wearing every hat at once. I had to learn how to market, manage, and scale while still doing the inspections myself.
Building trust in this industry also takes time. You’re asking people to rely on you for one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives, and that responsibility can be heavy. But every struggle has shaped the company into what it is today: focused, resilient, and committed to raising the standard for home inspections in Central Texas.

We specialize in delivering same-day reports with detailed video walk-throughs so clients actually understand the condition of the home, not just read about it in a technical report.
I’m most proud of the reputation we’ve built for honesty, speed, and customer care. What sets us apart is that we don’t just stop at pointing out problems. We help families move forward with confidence by explaining what really matters and even offering free utility connection services to make their transition smoother. We’re not just inspecting houses, we’re helping people take the next step in their lives with peace of mind.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Starting CenTex Inspection Services was probably the biggest risk I’ve ever taken. I walked away from stability and stepped into an industry where reputation is everything and failure can happen fast. There were no guarantees that clients would call or that agents would trust me, but I believed in the vision and in my ability to build something better.
To me, risk is part of growth. You can’t move forward if you’re always waiting for perfect timing or certainty. I don’t see risk as gambling, I see it as betting on yourself and being willing to learn, adapt, and keep moving even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. That’s what has carried me through.
