Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Matamoros.
Hi Stephanie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As far back as I can remember, I always had a love for photography. Incorporating pictures in projects was a must! I remember filling my room walls with pictures as well! I recall every now and then my parents would buy me disposable cameras and I would take it to school to take pictures of friends throughout the day.
As the years progressed, we then got our first family digital camera! I was so excited and at that point, I was always trying to take pictures and quickly figured out how to change settings, effects, tones, etc it was so much fun! As I got older, my interest always gravitated towards all things photography and digital programs. In high school, I was in photojournalism, yearbook and digital media in which I was able to learn how to use photoshop, illustrator and other digital programs. I also learned how to use a DSLR for the first time.
Once I graduated high school, my dad bought me my first DSLR a Canon 60D! Now years later, I have continued learning, improving and upgrading. Although there have been moments when I’ve had to take breaks over the years. It has not stopped me. Every time I pick up my camera, it’s like I’ve never stopped, it’s second nature!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As much as I would’ve loved to have pursued photography full-time from the very beginning, it didn’t work out for me that way! Some of the hardest things have been learning how to balance being a Mom and wife with a full-time job. My photography journey has been something that I’ve done on the side for the last 10 years! But this year, I’ve invested more of my time and money in hopes of finally having this be a full-time passion! 🙂
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a lifestyle photographer located in Austin TX. My goal is to capture real and authentic moments in a beautiful way. I strive to make my clients feel comfortable and make each session fun and memorable. I am proud of how much I’ve improved and the relationships that I’ve built with each new and returning client over the past years. Some of my favorite sessions to photograph are families, maternity, couples, and children. My style of photography, the goal of capturing connections that tell a story, versatility and creativity are some of the things that set me apart!
What does success mean to you?
There is a quote I’ve previously read that resonates with me at this point in my life “Your level of success is determined by your level of discipline and perseverance.” I have a vision and goal of pursuing my photography full-time! Accomplishing that to me is success, to do what I love and makes me happy!
