Check Out Tessa Sellers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Sellers.

Hi Tessa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in a very different world than where I am now. I was working in corporate as a product developer for a well-known global company, but something always felt off. On paper it was a great job, but deep down I knew it wasn’t my purpose. I’ve always been very type-A, so walking away from stability felt out of character, yet I knew I had to create a life that truly lit me up.

I quit my job, packed up, and moved to Austin without knowing a single person. My only mission was to figure out what would actually bring me joy in my day-to-day. I’ve always loved being creative, connecting with people, and giving back in some way. Around that time I discovered microblading, and it instantly clicked. Funny enough, as a kid I used to draw brows onto people in magazines just for fun, and it felt like second nature. Once I picked up a machine and started, I fell in love with the craft. It was never about money; it was about the energy in the room, the confidence in someone’s smile when they looked in the mirror, and the small but powerful shift in how they saw themselves.

In the beginning I worked under other artists and never really imagined I’d work for myself. Over time, though, I built a following organically and developed my own style. For me, PMU should never look like a tattoo. My philosophy is that brows should be seamless, natural, and enhance someone’s features rather than overpower them. I didn’t want people to see “brows”; I wanted them to see themselves, just more confident.

Eventually, I realized I needed to create something of my own, something bigger than me. That’s when I founded OSIE Beauty, a name inspired by the Japanese word Saisei, which means “rebirth.” To me, it’s not about changing someone, it’s about helping them step back into the fullest version of themselves. I’ve worked with clients from every walk of life: survivors of chemo, people with alopecia, women who over-plucked in the ’90s, and people simply looking to reclaim confidence they thought was lost. Each person who sits in my chair has a story, and I feel honored to play a small role in helping them feel seen, heard, and beautiful in their own skin. Today, clients travel from across Texas and from around the world to work with me, and I never take that for granted.

Because I’m so passionate about my craft, I’ve trained all over the world, from Vietnam to Estonia to Bratislava and across the U.S., earning eight certifications and building nearly a decade of experience. I’ve poured everything I’ve learned into both my clients and into teaching. I now offer personalized one-on-one training and am working on launching an online program that combines all of my experience into one course, designed to empower the next generation of artists with everything they need to succeed. Teaching has become one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. I love showing people not only the artistry, but also how to be their own boss, create independence, and take control of the path they want for their life.

At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to help people feel like the best version of themselves, and to create a ripple effect of confidence that touches not just their appearance, but their whole life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Starting over in a new city with no connections was intimidating, and there were times I questioned if I had made the right choice. In the early years, I worked long hours and often felt the pressure of building something from the ground up without a safety net. Learning how to run a business while also perfecting my craft was overwhelming at times, and there were seasons where clients were inconsistent or growth felt slow.

I faced the struggles that many entrepreneurs experience: figuring out branding, marketing, building trust in a crowded industry, and constantly reinvesting in my own education to make sure I stayed at the top of my field. In the beginning, I wore every hat in the business—I was the head of marketing, head of branding, CEO, receptionist, artist, and accountant all at once. Even after working all day with clients, I would come home and have to take on all the back-end roles too. As my business has grown, I’ve been fortunate to outsource some of these responsibilities, but I still carry many of them today. There were financial risks, self-doubt, and moments where the easier path would have been to go back to a corporate job.

Another big challenge was timing. I started my business right before COVID, and when the world shut down, my business was not considered essential. Being forced to close for three months was incredibly scary as a new business owner. Not only did I lose the ability to work with clients, but there was no clear timeline of when I would be able to reopen. It was a test of both patience and faith, and it made me realize how much resilience it takes to keep going when the future feels uncertain. That period pushed me to be resourceful and creative, and it made me appreciate the value of my work and my clients’ support even more once doors opened again.

Every obstacle has ultimately made me stronger and more grounded in my purpose. Those challenges have shaped the business I run today, and I’m grateful I kept moving forward even when the path wasn’t easy.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At OSIE Beauty, I specialize in creating ultra-natural brows through permanent makeup techniques like Nano Brows and Microblading. For anyone unfamiliar, Microblading uses a handheld tool to create fine, hair-like strokes, while Nano Brows use an advanced machine and an ultra-fine needle to mimic the look of natural hairs with even more precision and gentleness on the skin. Both techniques are designed to restore or enhance brows so they look seamless and effortless, never harsh, heavy, or like a tattoo.

We also offer the Petite Brow Session, a mini brow pmu service designed for those who want just a touch of enhancement. This service focuses on one specific area of the brows—the front, the arch, the body, or the tail—and uses just a few precise strokes to create subtle adjustments. It’s perfect for anyone who already loves most of their brows but notices a sparse spot they’d like to fill in without committing to a full brow service.

For those who aren’t ready to jump into permanent makeup, we also provide regular brow shaping services such as waxing, tweezing, and trimming. Every shaping service includes in-depth mapping to design the best shape for your unique facial features while working with your natural brows. It’s a way for clients to experience a transformation and feel polished without committing to PMU.

I’m known for my natural, timeless style. My clients often tell me that people can’t even tell they’ve had anything done, they just look like they were born with great brows. That’s always my goal: brows that blend perfectly with a client’s features, whether they wear makeup or not. Whether it’s someone who has lost their hair from chemo or alopecia, or someone who over-plucked in the ‘90s and wants their brows back, my focus is always on results that feel authentic to them.

What sets me apart is not only my artistry, but also my dedication to excellence. I’ve traveled the world to train with top artists in Vietnam, Estonia, Bratislava, and across the U.S., becoming eight times certified with nearly a decade of experience. That global education shaped my unique approach and ensures my clients receive the highest standard of care and technique. I also believe in creating an experience, not just a service. At OSIE Beauty, every client is seen, heard, and treated with the level of detail you would expect from a true luxury service.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me. Many travel from across the U.S. and even internationally to work with me, which is an honor I don’t take lightly. Beyond my work with clients, I’m also passionate about training other artists. Through private trainings and my upcoming online program, I teach not just the technical skills, but also how to build independence, become their own boss, and create a career they love.

At the heart of everything I do is the belief that brows are more than just brows. They are the frame of the face, and when done right, they can completely transform how someone feels about themselves. My mission is to help people feel like the best version of who they already are.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve learned that taking risks is often where the biggest growth happens. For most of my life, I was very type-A and risk-averse, so quitting a stable corporate job, moving to a new city without knowing anyone, and starting over in an entirely new field was completely out of my comfort zone. But I also knew that staying where I was wasn’t going to get me the life I wanted. That leap was my first major risk, and it’s what put me on the path to building OSIE Beauty.

Entrepreneurship itself has been one of the biggest risks of all. When you start a business, there’s no guaranteed paycheck or safety net. You’re putting in your savings, your time, and your energy into something you believe in, hoping it will work. There’s uncertainty in every stage—whether clients will come, whether your brand will stand out, whether the sacrifices you’re making will be worth it—but I’ve found that betting on myself has always been worth it.

I don’t think of myself as someone who takes reckless risks. I take calculated risks. I do my homework, I make a plan, but I’m also willing to act even if things aren’t guaranteed. I’ve found that some of the scariest decisions, like walking away from a comfortable job or pouring everything into my studio, have turned out to be the most rewarding. To me, risk isn’t about being fearless, it’s about trusting yourself enough to move forward even when the outcome isn’t certain.

At the end of the day, you only have one life. If you don’t try the things you’ve always dreamed about, you’ll never know what could have happened. And if you try and fail? That’s okay—there is always another route you can take. Every failure is either a lesson or the push you needed to get where you’re meant to be. When you look back on life, you’ll be glad you at least tried.
