Check Out Victoria Lekocevic’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Lekocevic.

Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the person in my family and friend group who has always been the planner and does everything over the top. I like to celebrate every little moment in life, no matter what, and cherish it all. After planning my wedding and helping many others with parties, weddings, and design, it finally hit me that corporate life wasn’t for me anymore. I planned my destination wedding, an event that people still talk about daily, and the attention to detail in the guest’s experience was incredible. One day I was doing makeup on a client (i also own my makeup business), and she asked me if I do decor. I said yeah, I mean, I could. In May of 2021, I booked my first birthday party for decor. I showed up and was so nervous, but since then, I haven’t looked back. I’m now on the knot and wedding wire and am fully booked for 2023. My clients are so loyal, and all have become like family to me. When I’m at a wedding, whether it’s decor or coordination, my heart feels full, and I knew after my first real paid one this is where I was meant to be. If you enjoy your job, it feels like something other than work. I would not be here if that one person didn’t take a chance on me with no website or pictures at that time.

Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
It has been smooth because all my clients initially came from word of mouth and referrals. But the biggest struggle is growing rapidly and finding people who align with your values and work ethic to join your team. Only some people will be as passionate about your business as you are. My husband also works full-time here in downtown Austin, but he dedicates every single free minute of his life to my business, and I couldn’t do it without him; However, we have never had any real issues, and we have some funny stories of things we had to do to get the job done. For example, we had to stuff five real Christmas trees into my Nissan rogue sport for a recent Christmas wedding. Suppose you could only see us doing that. Overall, I’ve been fortunate, and I can’t believe the amazing people I’ve met along this road.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets us apart is our passion and heart for this business. We do not overcharge or mislead our client honesty and transparency is crucial to us. We specialize in decor and design. We could have done all the decor, design, and planning at one wedding and coordinated the day. But we also have other weddings where we do partial planning or a month of coordination. We also offer flowers and anything you want or can think of. I will make it happen. I am most proud of the clientele I have built up that supports me in every way and have watched me grow so much in the last year. Many people are in business to make money, which, of course, who doesn’t love money? However, I work with multiple budgets, and I’m always happy to negotiate and try my best to make my business accessible to anyone, even with the smallest budgets.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust the process. When I was starting, I had been doing this for fun. I didn’t know all of the logistics. I also felt so uncomfortable charging people because I couldn’t believe my dreams had become a reality. Although I have a business management degree, it is a lot of work, time, and patience that goes into your business. And you will have moments of self-doubt where you feel like you aren’t sure if you can accomplish what you signed yourself up for before a bunch of events in the beginning. I was so nervous, and I was freaking out. Still, I should’ve been trusting myself, and knowing that I would be capable of all of these wild ideas that I didn’t know, I was capable of now, I tried to practice, giving myself more grace and reminding myself of how far we’ve come, and how nothing is unachievable.
