Check Out Zavier Branch’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zavier Branch.

Hi Zavier, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been in tune with my creativity since childhood. From painting my room on a whim to performing for my family and friends, I naturally knew I would have some future in this space, but interior design took me by surprise. My love for fashion grew in my teens, from making Halloween costumes for my friends to making my suit for prom. I decided to continue and attend Cal State University Long Beach for Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. After graduating and growing up in California, I needed a change. I researched online and went “eenie, meenie, miney, cheap” and decided to pack up my belongings and move to San Antonio. Upon moving here, I worked at a popular furniture store to manage their in-store displays. Through that, my love for interior design grew. After being there for a few years, I gained much knowledge and a clientele base to start my firm in October 2020!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Starting a business during covid was challenging. Especially because before the pandemic, I found clients through networking events. Not to mention the supply chain delays and extended lead times, it seemed that I was allowed to deliver bad news, which started to take a toll on anyone. Like any other business during that time, we had to be creative. Offer virtual design appointments to sourcing new vendors to keep our projects afloat.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
ZB Home Company is a full-service interior design firm that believes every space should be as unique as the people that live in them. Often, interior design can seem intimidating, and we try to make it accessible to the everyday person. Growing up in LA, where there are so many options for everything, to Texas, where there are few options, I wanted to bridge that gap and source those unique pieces for my clients.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
You’re not living life without taking risks. I’ve always been hard-headed and stubborn, even as a child. You tell me to do something. I automatically tend to do the opposite. The biggest risk was betting on myself and starting my firm, especially when businesses were looking at everything. I knew I had a vision in mind and wouldn’t be happy unless I tried.
