Today we’d like to introduce you to Alix Anopol.

Alix Anopol

Hi Alix, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a residential interior designer. My father was a furniture designer in NYC in the 70s-2000 and he made custom furniture for the greats of that design era. Not only was I raised in the industry, I grew my passion for the trade and earned my BS in Interior Design in Texas before moving back to NYC to start my career. I spent 7 years there working for various luxury home furnishing brands and at a high-end residential design firm where I was exposed to resources and events that have inspired me and my design style. I moved out of the city and relocated to Austin in January 2020. I spent the rush of the pandemic years at a few Austin design firms before officially beginning my business journey in March 2023. In the first year, I learned to adapt to the new perspective of business ownership, and I am currently building the foundation of a growing design practice. I encourage my clients to make bold choices that make their space feel unique to their personality, and I like to work with people who find value in and are passionate about living a quality lifestyle.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all! I began my career in NYC working to live and held out hope that every choice I made was bringing me towards a more creative and fulfilling role. Every experience I had, whether it be crazy bosses, traveling for work, high profile clients, ridiculous sales goals, low salaries, high salaries, promotions, layoffs, etc. prepared me for this new journey that I am on and helped me not take this for granted.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a residential interior designer and I specialize in bespoke design. Color and pattern are something I lean towards to inform a design, and I like to start with a blank canvas so the design feels intentional. In addition to sourcing pieces for my projects, I like to commission custom furniture pieces that I design specifically for my client’s spaces. I always want my clients to feel like they end up with a special experience unique to their home. I believe that design affects people on an emotional and energetic level, and I encourage people to invest in their homes like they would their clothes, food, bodies, social experiences, etc. I have a passion for curating pieces that allow your personality to shine through, and I encourage you to embrace your weirdness and live with things that make you laugh. I love a formal space, however I do try to create a lived-in feel with vintage finds and eclectic decor.

I provide a comprehensive design experience and can start with you in the beginning, selecting materials, providing drawings, and guiding the decisions for your new build or remodel. Then we move into full-service furniture design where I will present every part of the furnishings and decor for your space and project manage to get everything ordered, delivered to a white glove warehouse, and installed for the big reveal!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To trust myself. I think I am still learning to do it, but the times that I have trusted myself, I was not let down.
